R55 hoping to get my 2nd mini soon
hoping to get my 2nd mini soon
i joined here ALONG time ago, in search of getting a second mini, my first was an 84 while stationed in germany, but things changed and now they changed again, so it i'm going to night to look/test drive a 2009 clubman it's loaded with everything but leather. i wish it was the s but oh well, the price is right at least i think so. they are asking $17,900 plus low trade in on my jeep is $2,500 more than i owe so i think i'm in good shape. anyway enough with the rant. i'm looking foward to meeting some of you, learning more, and building up what i hope to be my new toy
just a side note, is it possible to add a supercharger to a non s model, or any other suggetions to get a good gains in power, thanks in advance

Good luck & I hope you get a MINI soon!!
As far as adding a supercharger or turbo to a Cooper... can it be done.. YES
is it expensive....YES
is it complicated..YES
I have had a Cooper S and I currently have a Clubman Cooper - it is a blast to drive, just not as fast as an S. There are several upgrades available for the coopers - the most common seems to be the DDM intake , then most people add a heavier rear sway bar ( if they don't have the sport suspension ), Other than that you can do a search - there are several great mods that people seem to really like.
Have fun with it!!!!

great thanks for the info, i probably won't supercharge it i was just curious, i'll probably only add a roof rack, change the wheels, along with an intake and maybe a tuner and exhaust that's probably it.
ok so i just got back from the dealer and got a couple questions, i didn't ask the salesman cause well ummm, i think my 2 year old knows more about cars, but in his defense he was a nice guy so that's cool. ok here we go
how does the nav work?
also i think it has the sport package, i noticed in front of the shifter there is a sport button, so what exactly does this do.
thanks again and i'm to do some more searching

Well none of my MINI's ever had Nav - so I have have no idea.... I always use my phone or buy a garmin / stand alone nav unit.
The sport button firms up the steering and remaps (?) the throttle ( better response ) when it is on. My 10 year old calls it "warp speed". It makes the car more fun / responsive -- most people drive in sport mode most of the time - unless you are going for max economy - then leave it off.
Another tip - try and find a local MINI club if possible - they can steer you in the right direction as far as finding a good used MINI, and after you find one - they probably have a independent MINI mechanic they use for non-warranty repairs ( non-dealer ) that they trust and can help save you some $$ on routine service and stuff like that.
