Barn door sill cover removal - instructions?

For someone with access to repair manual or something... Who can tell me how to remove the barn door sill cover (this is to install the ones that a checkered)?

The vertical section facing into the well has four clips, easy. But something holds the horizontal section down -- realoem diagrams suggest pins but I cannot imagine how to help them get up (and nor can I see how they got where I think they are in the first place...

So, anyone with access to documents that would show how that part got there?

Thanks!!!

Once you get the pins that face the front of the car out (make sure you get the clip the pin goes into out as well) then pull the front flap forward to clear the luggage tie-downs. Once you have it clear lift the whole piece straight to release the four clips on the horizontal section.

It sounds harder than it is. If I had a scanner I'd get you a copy of that page from my brand spanking new Bentley.

A. Good to know Bentley manual has it
B. photo please!
C. The trick is that part about "pull up". I mean I was doing that with what felt like a lot of force. Are the clips (3? Per realoem) really to be just yanked out by force? They look like the kind that can go in but never out... Unless pInched from underneath...

Just a "REALLY GOOD YANK" on it will get it to come off. It took a lot of pressure to get mine off. Seemed like I was going to break it.

And I did it! Sure enough, big yank upwards and click click click. Broke one clip, autozone had Nissan gray w black foam rivets that were a good match to replace the damaged one.

I usually buy replacements in groups of 10 from the dealership. They're cheap and they're used EVERYWHERE.
