Bonnet not closing and....

TWo issues here if you might be able to help, and thanks in advance.

One, my bonnet won't close all the way on one side. Instead of being flush to the light and the right tire area, i have a gap abput half an inch. I have not been in an accident and have zero damage visible. It closes completely on the other side. I recently noticed it. My question is what could cause this and will my warranty cover this issue? I am thinking something is wrong with the hood hinge on that side preventing it from closing properly??

Two, i am getting a warning light in yellow with the upside down exclamation point surrounded by parentheses. It only happens once in a while and then goes away. I have noticed zero issues or performance loss while driving. Any thoughts on what may be causing it and why it goes away and then sometimes comes back?

Btw, i have had nothing but problems wth the tpms. It always goes off and i have to reset it almost weekly. Pita.

All that said, i am approachng year number two with my clubman and it has been wonderful! Thanks again for amy help you may offer....

there are rubber adjusters that can be adjusted on the front of the car under the bonnet and if one is missadjusted that will cause your problem. they are on the metal brace that holds the grill in place just to the left and right of the grill.

Not sure what you mean by "upside down" exclamation point but an exclamation point with parentheses around it could mean a bunch of different things but all related to brakes. It could be as simple as the parking brake is not released all the way to Hill Assist not functioning to meaning you need new brakes.

If you run your tires at to low a pressure like around 30 pounds it will cause the system problems. there is a minimum pressure that must be attaind at all times for the system to work. Add about 4-5 pounds of pressure and you should be fine. But also remember that if you live in an area where the temperature change day to day may be 30 degrees it can also cause them to need to be reset. As 30 degree changes is enough to drop the pressure the 10% that is required to set off the low tire warning.

Once again, thanks for your time answering my questions/concerns schatzy. I should have known you would jump in. I hope you and your car are doing well! We now live in LA and my mini is enjoying California weather over NYC weather even more than we are. In fact, I have forgotten I have heated seats. Funny, in NYC we used to see a mini here and their while in LA we see one every 100 yards. LA is mini central for sure!

I am taking my car in for an appt. on Tuesday to get it all checked out.

Since I am here and asking, is it just me or does the gear box sometimes give a little resistance into first gear more so than other cars? That gate that exists between reverse and first gear can sometimes make getting my car into first a little rough...

I only have trouble with first if the car is rolling at about a walking pace. if faster or stopped i have no problem. but that is just my car.

Congratulation on your move hope it is what you wanted. I know I love New England and really dont want to move but if i had to it would have to be somewhere close to Ski country like Salt Lake City or Tahoe, some place like that.

Yes, rolling is certainly where I have the most resistance into first. No doubt.

I got my car back today. Nice folks at the dealership in Universal City, LA. The first dealer who didn't try to sell me stuff my car didn't need like an alignment on a one year old car etc...They put in a new filter, brake fluid and other small things under warranty.

They said the hood is bent a tiny bit maybe and asked me if I closed it on something. Of course I didn't. (well yes, I closed it on the engine of course silly lol) They said I should push on both of the stripes to get the hood to close better. Doesn't really help much. I tried it. Hmmm... I guess they will think it is simply body damage and won't cover it. Annoying. Only a mini owner would notice it and maybe even not then but I see it. I know it wasn't something I personally did and the car shows no signs of damage inside or outside or around the engine etc...

I also told them I was getting a random warning light (upside down light bulb actually) and it comes and goes. They said I wasn't getting one but of course I got it again when I got home and then it cleared again soon after I started to drive. LOL Isn't that how it works? I believe it means an external light is not working but I checked all my lights and they look good.

I also picked up a Black Jack rear view mirror cover to put on. Looks great with the NFR and black stripes! Adds a nice touch of quirk to the car. Maybe one day I will put on the side mirror covers as well. Maybe too much. Still, fun to be able to change little things easily even after two years. Kinda renews the fun all over again.

I do believe you are correct about the TPMS. LA goes from 40's to 90+ degrees easily in the winter and even in the summer months in the valley. My wife's car is doing the same here. Interesting.

I love the North East as well but it got too cold for us in the winter. I agree, Ski country is stunning! We passed through it driving out here in the summer while visiting friends in the areas you mentioned.
