R55 Service Light Not In Manual
Service Light Not In Manual
I've recently moved to Vermont and am busy navigating the labrynthian beaurocracy of the DMV and all that is involved in transferring the registration on my 2008 Mini Clubman from New York to VT.
Note: There are no mini dealerships in VT.
I've just registered the car and have 15 days to get it inspected. There are two lights on when I do check service- one of which (according to the
manual) is the "state required safety inspection":

The other is an icon that isn't listed in the Service manual (see below). I'm pretty sure this came on once before, and I was told by Keeler Mini in Albany that it's just an automatic light that comes on every 10,000 miles or so to remind you to get your emissions checked. Is this true? VT inspection does require an OBD check..
My question: could either of these going to give them a false positive and cause me to fail inspection?

Both of those only indicate that in May 2010 (5/2010) you were due for an inspection. top on is for state inspection and the second one is for state emissions inspection. Neither of those will show on the ODB check by the state. Those only show if you run the service check as you have done and I doubt the state of VT will go that far as I believe their state inspection has a sticker like most states that have inspections to tell you when it is due. You can go into the computer and change the dates or have a dealer just disable them as they really are just a pain to keep up with as you would have to change them each time you got an inspection as the state would not adjust those for you each time.
