tire advice needed for clubman 16" wheel

Hi,

I got a flat tire (rear left) with a big bolt (not a nail ). I was able to stop leaking by putting two plugs in it. I guess time to get new set of tires.

Currently I have 34k miles on my clubman and it has continental run-flat in 16 inch wheel. These rear tires were in front upto 31k and I rotated them recently to go rear. I will go for 205/50/R16 non-rf tire. Can I go for two rear tires first and replace front ones 10K later? or Should I go for all four? Also I see lots of recommendation about tire choices. I may go for goodyear eagle GT. Any other suggestion is welcomed.

Thanks,

Are you still on the original tires? I ask because at 20K miles, MINI dealer told me it was time for new tires. I ignored them, of course. Today, at nearly 25K miles, I had them rotated again at Discount Tires. They told me I should be getting new tires. I'm about ready to agree, but would like to get 30K out of them. They are starting to get thin, but not to the point that I am worried. Just the thought of spending nearly a grand on new tires makes me want to get the most out of them.

How have you gotten that many miles?

Yes, these are original tires. I wish I can push little further.
I found Hankook 195/55-16 Ventus V4 ES 87V from onlinetires.com. ($72 each , currently $50 rebate is going on which will compensate the shipping )
I will order four now and will install all togther after I see any hint of rear tire going bad.

Thanks

I'm sure, any tire expert would not recommend run flats on the front mixed with non-RF on the back. Handling would certainly be affected. Make the switch to 4 new non-RF's all around. Safer and more fun.

What tires do you have on your car? This will make a big difference in the amount of miles you get out of the tires.

I had the Dunlop SP Sport 01 DSST Ultra High Performance Summer tire not the all seasons and only got 22k out of them but this is normal for that tire. The Conti All Season should run around 35k-40K miles.

I have the original Continentals that came on it. I bought the car used with about 6K. I have put pretty much nothing but highway miles on it since then. I drive around 100 miles a day when I have to leave my home office, all out of town. I am religious about rotating at 5K. Just having to gulp down the idea of nearly 1K for a new set of tires. Seriously thinking of stashing a regular spare and converting to non-runflats. Sure would save money in the long run.
