R55 iPhone/iPod compatibility with 09 Clubman
iPhone/iPod compatibility with 09 Clubman
I am ANXIOUSLY awaiting the arrival of my 09 NFR Clubman (we are supposed to be able to pick it up Monday or Tuesday after a 6 plus week wait!!!). I was reading the thread concerning the iPod functionality and some annoyances with it. My husband and I both have iPhones, and were planning on using the iPod within that in the Clubman. Does it work? Someone on another thread mentioned they were having issues using their iPhone iPod?
I have a regular MA712LL iPhone and I'm happy with its operation. Sometimes I connect it and it doesn't read or it will read it but no information shows on the radio display. I just reboot my phone and it works. This doesn't always happen but with any electronic devices, I take it in stride. Also, I don't have an armrest cradle yet but that will come this year. As you may already know, it charges the phone and it connects the phone to your Clubbie's antenna for way better transmission and receiving.
sian421,
Congrats on your purchase! The wait is hard...
I guess things will depend on what connectivity option you've ordered or plan to use with your new car. It will also depend on the type of iPhone you have (original or 3G).
My personal experience with an iPhone 3G and the iPod/BT connectivity kit that uses the "Y-Cable". With this set-up, the iPhone functions great (the limitations are really with the head unit interface, as I don't have Nav). The only thing that doesn't work reliably is charging - this is discussed ad nauseum on the Nav & Audio forum.
Good luck!

3G-Iphone works great the only frustrating issue is that if you selected smartphone integration and paid for it, as I did, there is no snap in adaptor available from BMW yet, though there is a part number.
