I did it!

After a year of hanging around NAM and reading almost EVERY thread, I finally took the plunge this morning and ordered my CLUBMAN!!

After taking it for a test drive overnight, it was the car for me.

It is a once in a lifetime purchase for me, so I got nearly all the options - Chilli pack, Nav, Sunroof, Voice Control, Alarm, Bluetooth and Rain sensors.

Color is Chilli Red with Black highlights and stripes. Interior Blue with Fluid Silver.

Yay me! Yay my Clubbie!

Not so Yay to an April delivery!!

cheers,
Glen

Congrats!! You will love the car! Coming from my own experience (4.5 month wait) at times it will feel long (don't stray far from your support group ), but then suddenly the car is here and the wait is a distant, vague memory and all you can think about now is motoring . Welcome and again Congrats!

Congrats on your order - but why so long? Or perhaps you come from the Pacific Northwest where patience is definitely a virtue?

Thanks! Where is this said support group? I think I need therapy already and it has only been 2 hours since I signed the contract!

Otra - I am in Australia and apparantly my order won't get in for December so it's an April delivery according to the folks at Mini Sales..

Glen, I'm very excited for you and am sure you'll love your new MINI Clubman. I am guessing that ordering details may be a bit different "down under" but that is not important.

The support group will be in 1st Gear once you figure out "what week" your MINI is scheduled for production...which will not be for a while since you're talking about an April delivery. Read the sticky in the 1st Gear Forum called "How to Track Your MINI..." by clicking here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d-updated.html where you'll learn standard operating procedure.

Is there a MINI regional group down in your part of Australia? I don't know how NAM is on that part of the world, but another board that used to be very active regionally is MINI2.com so you can check there, too.

Meanwhile, we'll stay tuned with you!

Thanks Otra for that information. I will have to check into 1st Gear Rehab by the end of today I think!

Might post a thing or two in the Australia forums on NAM too - thanks for the suggestion. I will keep everyone posted (if you care to know!)

cheers,
Glen

Thanks everyone - you are all so welcoming!

I can't tell you what it was like to first step into the test drive and start the engine. Everything that I had read about on NAM and elsewhere was right in front of me! It's just a great drive, and loads of fun!

Does anyone know if there is an Australian version of the MiniUSA Lounge that I have read some of you log into to track your order?

cheers,
Glen

Now see, if you weren't so picky, you coulda just kept the one they let you have overnight!

Congratulations--based on my experience (not a Clubman, but a MINI), it is DEFINATELY worth the wait!

Congrats! And, needless to say, you did go with the coolest combo of all -- CR/B! The interior sounds terrific. You will love your Clubman. How are the roads for motoring where you are -- nice twisties and scenic routes? How's the weather in April?

Well the test drive model ACTUALLY IS for sale, and would have cost me around $10,000 less Australian! I was nearly tempted, but I like brand new shiney stuff hehe!

tancred> Yes I think the CR/B and the Blue interior is kinda daring, no? We'll see what it looks like. I was going for the red white and blue look...

I live in coastal Victoria here in Australia, so it will be great to head down the Great Ocean Road where some of the world's best beaches live, as well as the 12 Apostles (12 mammoth rocks lined up across the coastline):

Welcome Glen..... I love Australia, I lived in Bathurst/Sydney for 2 years; I loved it and can't wait to go back. Its a shame that the citizenship rules are so harsh I would love to stay there permanently What an awesome place to own a MINI

My car is finally in country, I placed my order in September; so I know the pain of a long wait. My friend ordered in July, and he hasn't gotten his yet either. Good luck and congratulations; we are here for you

Thanks Lilliux,

I dread the next 3+ months! It is only day 2 and I have been scanning the internet almost constantly for anything Mini-related. I think I need to detox this week!

I am also going through that "should I have chosen that option or that color?" phase, commonly known as the "10-day-change-your-mind window"! I love the red and black but I am second guessing the stripes and even looking at the Pepper and Silver colors. Yikes! I think I should just trust my original preferences.

Yes, Australia does have strict citizenship rules, don't it. My English cousins came for a holiday once and then applied when they got back to England, but their application was declined. Sad!

cheers,
Glen

Well, nearly 4 months later, my Clubman has now arrived in the country (Australia)!!

Now I am in the Docks-to-Dealership stage, which may take up to 2 weeks!!!

Anyone know how to pass the time? I have waited this long, so another week won't hurt. Should I just get drunk?

cheers,
Glen
