R55 Resale value of a Clubman S?
Resale value of a Clubman S?
Does anyone know what the trade in value of a 2008 Mini clubman S would be? I am just curious if anyone has taken their clubman in and tried to trade it in to see what the value of the car is. I have a red/red/red/black cloth with about 10,000 miles, cwp, pp, auto, mfsw, and a few other options. I know the economy is down and its not a great time to trade a car, but I just curious on what people thought this car might be worth.
Thanks
Thanks
Have you checked out this part of the site: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...cat.php/cat/49 So far only one has sold - at least according to what is noted.
You should also check out autotrader.com and see what's going on there.
Are you thinking of trading in for a different brand of car?

I would suggest you go to a MINI dealer website in your area and check the used inventory.
It would give you a ballpark of current asking prices and then you could lookup Edmunds wholesale value. Somewhere back from wholesale value and a little above is what the dealer might have paid at auction, unless they purchased a block of used MINIs from BMW.
I know our local dealer has been buying everything they can for the used lot, they have a fair inventory as of last week.

Here's some more positive news about resale: http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/11/...s-top-10-list/
And here is something about October sales:http://www.motoringfile.com/2008/11/...6-for-october/
Of course, we don't know what's going to happen, but the cars are still considered very sought after.

The MINI Cooper family of products has been awarded top honors in the compact car category of the 2009 Best Resale Value Awards presented by Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, a leading provider of new- and used-vehicle information. Additionally, the MINI Cooper has been named to the Top 10 models list, which recognizes best resale values across all vehicle segments.
MINI USA reported October sales of 5,272 automobiles, up 56.4 percent from the 3,370 cars sold in October 2007...

I agree with the post on going to your dealership, and see what their asking price is on a used Clubman S, if you can find one. Check on autotrader and cars.com as well. A simple rule of thumb to follow---subtract 4k from the dealer's asking price, and you have a wholesale/trade in value. The dealer needs to have room to negotiate the price, pay for the "freebies", and cover their overhead and commissions. If you subtract 4k from most "dealer" asking prices you'll be at or very close to true wholesale valuation on your MINI. Good luck!
If you live near a carmax they will give to a number that they will pay cash for even if you don’t buy a car from them. Any number you get from a car dealer is based on you buying something from them so its not a real number. You insurance company or bank might be able to give you some idea of a retail value. You would then need to adjust that for wholesale. But CarMax is the best bet.
