Full Mask - Dealer or other?

Hi,

I was wondering about the clear full mask for the front of the Clubman? The Dealer wants $700.00 for it installed but other companies offer the 3M product for much less but it would need to installed.

If you have this mask, what did you do...install it yourself, have the Dealer install it, or other? Thanks for your replies!

Mike

Just note that if you install it your self and it starts peeling it is not covered by warranty.

I went to the dealer. But the dealers do not actually do the work.they hire one of the local companies to actually do the work. So if you can get a better deal from the local shop by going to them directly that would be a savings for you.

The price the dealer charged me was actually lower than i would have paid by going to the same shop that actually did the work. This is slightly unusual but in my case the dealer sells so many on so many make and models of cars they get a break on the pricing.

We installed ours and it turned out fine and saved $$$. On www.soopercooperinfo.com there is a directory of installers in the US along with other info about clearbras products and DIYs.

Yeah, the contracted installer usually gives the dealership a price cut because the dealership is bringing them the business... and in volume.

Find out who the dealer uses as their installer. Research and see if it's a highly reputable installer in your area. If so, go with the dealer.

As far as DIY, anyone that does that is certifiably insane, IMO. I watched mine being installed and it's not a job for a rookie. Let the pros do that one. Hell, I don't even trust every pro, so why would I trust myself ??

Our dealer uses a 3rd party, and it cost between $600-$700 for a clearbra. If you go straight to the 3rd party contractor, it will cost you about $450 for the same material/install.

I called around and my dealership gave me the best price. There are a bunch of threads on this subject... Here's a good one: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=133244 Schatzy's point about having recourse with a warranty is an important one.
