Rims and Tires

I just picked up my Clubman S on Fri, now to buy some rims and tires. I am trying to figure out what is the widest tire I can go with on a 17" rim without having any problems. I have heard 215/45/17 but not sure, also is anybody running 18" rims without any problems, I do not want super low profile tires because that means possibly bent or cracked rims, etc. Please suggest option and pros and cons.

I have 18s on the JCW wheels. No dents, no scratches, and 13000 miles on them. I think I should have stayed with 17s, but so far no problems.

Good luck, and happy motoring........

On the 17X7" wheels, 215/45s are the widest that one should go. I saw a picture on one of the Clubman picture threads of a Clubman-D (European) with 18X8" wheels. the tires are 235/35s and look very low profile. If your in an area where the roads are not well kept, you may want to stay with the 17s. Even with 205/45/17s my teeth get rattled from the roads in N.J.

I know this aint a clubman but this to give you some ideas of what you're working with. this is a 17x7 rim with a 215/45/17 Sumimoto non-runflat

I'm getting ready to drop my car 2" and go with 18's wrapped with 225/35/18 Falken's to get this look

new tires

I could not stand the run flats for another day and called Tire Rack and replaced them with 215/45r17's bridgestones with Kazera wheels. i wanted to fill out the wheel wells and improve ride. i am pleased with the 17's, 18's would have been too thin for me. dump the run flats no matter which way you go, its like a different car.

Kevinofcamelot, there's a super thread that already exists all about wheels for the Clubman: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=150863 It's full of photos and details.
