Alright, I know some of you will kill me. But I'm one of those who actually uses the local drive thru car wash (w/ 2 little kids, I just can't find time to detail the way many here seem to)...in which case, is this okay with the stock antenna? Or do I need a stubby one?

 

My MA showed me that the stock one bends back rather easily, so you should probably be fine?

For $27 bucks, though, it's a cheap, easy MOD.

 

So, totally clueless here...

What's the difference/benefit between the standard and this stubby antenna?

 

It's just personal preference I guess. To me, the stock antenna is too big. Kinda makes the Clubman look like a remote control car! Which isn't bad or anything.

I just like the cleaner look of the stubby. (everytime I say that word, my mind goes straight to the gutter...I'm so mature. )

 

Hmmm. OK I was just curious, cause I really am pretty clueless when it comes to these things! I was sitting here looking at the stubby (yeah, there could be a better term ) antenna on the web asking my husband how different it was from the one on Galileo...cause I've honestly never noticed . And with the car wash question I just had to ask! (This whole Mini experience is teaching me so much )

 

Well at least I am not the only one who thinks like that.

Pete is a good friend of mine, he has done lots of the work on my car. I know you will be happy with his product. Chances are its the same thing you would get anywhere else.

I too do the drive thru car wash, then take it hope to a spray wax....looks good enough for me. Before I had the stubby I had no problems with the stock antenna, but I really like the looks of the stubby.

Now I have to figure out if I will like it with the roof spoiler.

I got the 4" one. Yup that's what it looks like.

I think the 2" is too small for the Clubbie, personally.

 

So is the product being sold the base+antenna or just the antenna that I assume you screw in?
