R55 Clubman On Order - Roof Color Woes!
Well, in the beginning, the silver roof (w/ silver wheels and stripes w/ gotham grey door panels) was at the top of my list, simply because it is currently "exclusive" to the Clubman. But when I finaly saw a couple of actual pictures of the combo, it just didn't have the "look" I was after. To me, it gives a more lighter, softer feel to the yellow, whereas the black has a more agressive, serious look to it and it deepens the yellow a shade or two.
I'm actually starting to lean towards the yellow roof. The black arches, wheels, and all of the blacked out trim/grills along with the uprights will probably give me all of the contrast I need.
Of course, I can always keep the black roof and get the arches painted yellow by Way. See what I mean.....I can't make up my mind!
I'll be so glad when I no longer have a choice.

Saw a MY/S Clubbie this past week and did not like it. But it's a matter of personal taste, really. I know others who love it.
I don't think there would be a balance problem with a yellow roof. It is balanced by the trim and tires. A black roof might actually be too much black for a good balance if a lot of blackout is done. Often it is better not to have 50-50% of two colors.

I've owned a yellow car. Defender 90 w/ black sill guards, black bumper, black wheels, black soft top. In my opinion, it was the amount of black (especially on the soft top) that made it work. I would say the same about yellow Xterras, though in their case the roof contrast is coming from the roof rack and air deflector. IMO both look better than, say, a yellow New Beetle or Mazda Protege5. Or a godawful yellow Range Rover I saw a few years back (and not yellow as in the stickered-up and expo'd out Camel Trophy vehicles...just yellow). You want to talk about looking like a school bus...
Point is, it's subjective. I know which I prefer based on my own tastes and experiences. Same for you and everyone else (except for Greg, it seems!).
Chip's words are words to live by (or at least configure a MINI by), that's for sure.
are you getting a sunroof BTW?
