Yes but if you have a tire blow out = dead meat. No spare and no amount of can goo is going to keep you going either. In some areas, cell phones don't even work. Thankfully there are runflats!

You can use EH2+ gen 2 runflats on gen 1 EH2 rims. Last year I experienced a badly punctured Goodyear Excellence tire in my '05 R53 S and was able to continue to drive to safety in the expressway @ 60MPH for over 30 miles. The tire had ZERO air (rear left) and the car still rode and handling beautifully. Unfortunately the rupture was not repairable and had to purchase a new one. I am a runflat tire believer! The safety aspect of runflats is what makes them well worth it.

To get the most out of Gen 2 runflats, use EH2+ rims that support humps on both ends. Not totally required, but they do better support the tire against the rim in case of total air loss.

Excuse my ignorance but do the run-flat rims accept all-seasons?

I'm assuming yes but this post:

When considering purchasing something (perhaps used) for a spare, was there a wheel / tire bolt pattern change in '07 ?

Same bolt pattern, 4 x 100 mm, wheel bolts for the 2006 GP, 2007 R-52 cabrio, and 2007 R56 models, Clubmans are 14mm as opposed to 12mm for previous models.

Ok, and thanks. I had read this at the MotoringFile:

May '06 production onward was the increase in size of the lug bolt holes to accommodate changes for the upcoming R56 production change-over. This caused and continues to cause quite a bit of confusion in terms of what brakes and wheels will fit.
