We've got almost 2000 miles on the Clubman S automatic and getting 31 mpg in the city. Wifey recently took it to Arizona (300 miles each way) and got 32. Not much difference city to highway. We are still REALLY happy with it considering my truck gets 17mpg and when the pump cuts off at $75.00, it isnt full!

Well, that's me but I only have about 130 miles on it and as I stated it's been short trips...in town with only 15 mins. on the highway twice..and it's 30mgs. I expect it to improve and certainly be better on pure highway. During this 130 miles I've tried out the sport button a few times which will, I'd think, not be so hot for the best mpgs.

I'll be driving it a great deal more very soon - a fairly long trip will be in early June to the Jim Thorpe Run - of course that will be highway and "spirited driving", as well.

I think McCoin drives a non S auto? Yes?

Our first fill-up yielded 31mpg with mixed city and highway. Of course, while I keep the RPM's under 4500 I'm driving like the Mobile Economy run. Once I hit 1200 miles, all fuel economy bets are off when I start running with the throttle to the floor

OK, first tank - average mpgs 35.5, via the onboard computer. Mostly short trips, one round trip highway of about 100 miles..with varying speeds usually between 65-75 mph.

I like the way this MINI lets you know about your fuel getting low - from bongs, to the red lines and even that little triangle with an ! in the middle of it on the obc.

P.S. Mine is a non S, it's a Cooper Clubman

At 1216 miles, computer says 30.8mpg. That's mostly city driving and I have a lead foot.

34.5 average. That includes crusing at 80 on the freeway and having fun in the city. I am not taking easy on it and I am very impressed with the milage. Once I back off the pedal a little those numbers will go up!

Wow, I am jealous of you guys because we are getting during, mostly city driving, no better than 24.5 MPG... Not in sport, but we do have a bike rack and I wonder if that is enough to make a 5+ mpg difference..

Apart from my drive back from San Antonio, I've been getting roughly in that range. Don't have a bike rack, but Austin has a lot more hills than Dallas.

Wonder if the high heat + humidity that's sitting over Texas is having an impact? I know my old MCS used to turn into a pig in this kind of weather.

MPG Non-S Automatic

My results are:
1st tank -33 mpg (hand calculated) mixed overall. Part of that was interstate, mountain roads and the onboard computer calculated 36.8 (for that part of the trip only)
2nd tank- 31.9 (hand calculated) mixed driving. I was using more air conditioning.....90's the last 2 days.
I'm happy but had hoped for a little better. Do mpg's improve as the car is broken in?

I've got about 1700 miles on the clock so far. In mixed driving -- maybe 60% city and 40% highway -- with the A/C going about half the time , I've been consistently in the 27.5-28.5 range per tank.

Nothing to write home about, but pretty good for a great handling sports car with a ton of personality.

My odo reading says 29.4 miles per gallon on my first tank here, which is a mix of city/highway. I know it's a bit overinflated so i'll let you guys be the judge. I'll post up more standard measurements as time goes on.

First tank down - by my calculation 26.2 mpg for 75% city driving. Quite a lot of idling while tinkering too.

I'll be putting a couple of hundred this weekend on the way to and from Disney - will be interesting to see what a 75% highway tank will look like...

Stinking hot and sticky humid here (always during the summer) - caning A/C constantly.

Just came back from a great MINI Run out in Jim Thorpe PA.. Drove from Westchester County, NY out there and back with highway, serious hills, twisties through beautiful farm country...and my mileage via the OBC shows 35.8 mpgs...this was with sport mode during the real serious twisting roads, and with the air conditioning on for the majority of the driving - pretty darn good.

This new automatic compared to the CVT is amazing - never did I feel as though the car was having any trouble keeping up, we zipped up the hills effortlessly and could easily keep up with the many MCS that were with us. Absolutely rate this engine/transmission A++++!

Well, there are some regional forums here that cover various events and runs https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...splay.php?f=98 and I can direct you to a regional site as well, that covers events such as runs, gatherings, detailing "clinics" and more: http://nemini.org/index.php?referredby=59 There is a very active contingent in the NJ area, spilling over into PA, and then Westchester/CT...but even some in Western Mass., too.

Very exciting about your possibility of buying a MCCS.

Cybergypsy, I respect your right to your opinion about the 2nd Gen. auto but completely disagree. But that's what makes us individuals, eh?

Has there been ANY evidence that the new 6 speeds autos are problematic? I heard more gripes about the old CVTs and the 6 speed manuals.

I'm just going to extend my warranty
