Was doing only 24.8 mpg with my 06 MINI GP (from 6 miles to 3,133 miles). Thought it was a little low and when I saw the dealer window sticker, the emissions was a lot higher then normal for this size of a vehicle. Started using Ethos Fuel Reformulator, which helped reduce emissions, at 3,133 miles and improved fuel economy as well to 28.3 mpg. I currently have 4,564 miles in the car and drive 90% city, 10% highway. Average now is 28.3 with a range of 26.8 to 30.1 depending on who is driving, or what driving conditions. Only type of fuel ever used was 93 (premium).

And while the Steagle game is preseason...I won't mind our scrubs ruffin' up your scrubs. I still remember TO and McNabb walking back and forth along the sidelines of Heinz Field...they'll be showing clips of that forever.

I must be in the wrong forum. I thought we were talking gas mileage here easy,easy,just giving ya'll a hard time.. Notice a few people getting around 30 miles per gallon and going 400 miles per tank. I too average around 30-33 MPG.. At 400 miles and 12 gallons of fuel that's 33.33 MPG..Sorry saw some numbers earlier that didn't compute right..I have an MCc 5sp. manual trans. Be nice to have a 6th gear as I'm running roughly 3800 RPM's at 65-70 MPH

 

I understand, you must be from Cleveland, Oakland, or Detroit. I just haven't figured out which yet...

If I wanted to get 15-18 mpg I would have kept my Toyota FJCruiser.
But I wanted sporty driving, handling, and oh yes gas mileage.
With the price of gas I want good mileage since I run 93 Octane $3.29 gal.
I drive conservatively but I have fun, I go fast but not fast enough to get tickets. I got 28 mpg on my Audi TT and I get 36 mpg on my MINI.
If I got under 20 mpg, I would be unhappy.
I am happy.

I am averaging (on about 60% hwy and 40% city) about 28 - 29 mpg.

Maybe I should check my calculator ...or my brain.

Maybe I am just a very conservative driver following the motorcycle accident that left me with a punctured lung, 4 broken ribs and a shattered shoulder blade... yeah that must be it.

I have greatly increased my following distances and I am actually having more fun in the MINI than I ever did on my bike. So maybe my new found conservative style is paying off at the pump too.

I am doing mostly highway in like 90/10
So your getting 28-29 is good for 60/40.
Maybe I should be getting more than I am at 90/10

Still once SuperMINI is broken in, I expect the mpg to increase even more.
I only have under 500 so far.
I car pool with the wife's diesel.
Talk about gas mileage. She gets 44 mpg in her VW Passat.
It's a dog off the line though.

 

I have a 07 MCSC auto. In NorCal people drive > 80 MPH and i get an average of 35MPG if i drive 65-70 i get MPG in the 40's...and this is with the auto. Not at all dissapointed.

 

That is fantastic mileage per gallon.
I am getting 36 mpg 90/10 and you got me beat.
That would make me extremely happy.
I just don't get how some folks are getting under 20 mpg.
Consistent peddle to the metal or something to do that.

i'm a little shock to see such bad mpg from a boosted 1.6l (168 crank hp)

i'm getting 24mpg city / 27 highway out of my STi (298 hp / 330tq @ wheels)

what gas are you all using ?

 

I use premium 93 octane.

 

On my hard top around town/hwy I consistently pull 29 when on the Hwy and at speeds of 70 or lower 39 mpg when at speeds above 75-80 milage is as low as 29, my wifes Cabrio is pulling 25 around town/hwy driving. Both cars as you see are basically stock MC.

 

I have 6K miles on my 07 with CIA, Pulley and 2.5 Exhaust. Average 26.5 on Florida flat land....top down 80% of the time....but I drive the pssss out of it....never miss a chance to hear that high pitched wind-up or the rata tat tat when I back off... Anyway better than my Suburban and ML 500....and WAY more fun....

 

Certainly true if the reason for buying 89 or 91 is fuel economy. But if you want to tune a car for maximum performance, 93 octane (where you can get it) allows more aggressive tunes that increase performance. If you don't care about performance, skip the high octane and stay out of the high revs.

 

From day one I got 25 MPG. I have a heavy pedal foot so I was OK with that. Over the summer my mileage dropped to 21-22 MPG & has remained at that low level this winter. I dunno what's going on but I gotta look into it

 

My mini gets about 17 mpg, that's about 80% city driving. I think I'm an aggressive driver but 17 still seems low. I'm currently going very easy on the pedal to see what I can eek out of it. Needless to say I'm disappointed. I bought the car, which I otherwise love, new in Aug 05.

 

I keep my RPMs above 3000 at all times basically. I also redline the car at least once if not twice a day (a redline a day keeps carbon buildup away.....) Additionally, I do not go above the speed limit, but I get there quickly and drive mostly on back roads and through Annapolis. I average 25 - 26 mpg.

 

My average speed and MPG this week matched 24 mph and 24 mpg, mostly city streets, since our freeways are suffering the growing pains of a large city. Some AC usage (at 101 degrees, it was the sacrilege of top up a couple of afternoons) and some idle.

Makes me want to break out onto the highway this weekend and just drive.

 

I average 29 mpg in my '05 MCS with 90 octane with ethanol in it, not that I think the ethanol makes a diff. If my husband drives, the average drops about a mile per gallon. I usually put the readout where it will show me what I'm getting per gallon at the time so I can keep an eye on it since gas prices have gotten so bad. That has helped me somewhat. If I'm on the interstate, it shows over 30 at that time, but my average usually isn't over 30.
I guess I'll have to try redlining it sometime

I drive about 6 miles a day. 100% city driving and I have been getting 26 MPG. I rarely see the highway. I'm kinda heavy with the right foot and don't use all the gears. I went "up north" one weekend and got 36 MPG with 1/3 city and 2/3 highway. Not the best numbers but at least I'm havin fun
