I am sooo sorry to hear this Par! I ordered a week before you and just got mine this week.

CALL THE SALES MANAGER AT YOUR DEALERSHIP!!!! They need to correct the lack of information with you. Tell them you are 3 days away from walking away from this...maybe that will get the apologizes, information, and free stuff coming your way!

No worries about the venting.. That's what we're here for!

Keep us posted!

I seriously don't know HOW!!!! Can that be possible??? ha ha... I asked MA...so....where did I get reVINed? Clearly he didn't recall telling me about the USA reVIN thing last week...he said yours was done in England! Whatever...apparently it's fixed now and sitting on the showroom floor in The Woodlands. That's all that really matters!!!

We are planning on picking Mini up Monday afternoon...that is...if Hubby's out of JURY DUTY!!!!!!!!!!!!! EEKKKK!! Will let you know how it goes...
Did you get it yet Aggie?

That's wonderful - congratulations!

So, how did the re-VIN job look? Did they ever give you any more information as to where/how they changed the numbers? Did they show you any VIN locations other than the four we already knew (doorjamb, strut tower, dash, and behind license plate)?

Any freebies or concessions from MINIUSA to apologize for the mixup?

And most of all, any pictures!!

Mine probably won't be at my dealership until the 17th or 18th, so I'm going to have to live through you vicariously for the next few days. I think you're the first person on the board to take delivery of one of the "oops" convertibles.

Thanks Scott!

MA made it sound like it was no big deal (the reVIN) since it was done in factory and I didn't push it. Had it been done in the USA, I would have been holding him to the fire.

But SERIOUSLY, I think you should wear a mask when you go in so you don't breathe in any "Mini" happy gas while you are there....I swear it's invisible, odorless gas, that's piped in to make you 'happy' and 'carefree' because I SERIOUSLY didn't have a care in the world when we were in there. And because of whatever I breathed in, I didn't even ASK about freebies for the VIN mix up... lol...

SERIOUSLY! ALL I CARED about was getting out that door, putting that top down, and soaking in the beauty of the world via Mini. Or maybe I got a shot? lol ...maybe when MA bumped into me, he really shot special Mini juice under my skin which makes you have no ill feelings, thoughts, or actions! Only smiles, goodness, and joy spewed from me the day at the dealer....and all this week. Whatever happened, it hasn't worn off!!!!!

GGGrrrr.... Hubby STILL won't download the pics from the camera...he has it at work. I shall heckle again tonight. She's just the hottest little lady in the parking garage!

Again...arm yourself with some sort of repellent when you go get your baby because otherwise you will end up like me...in a trance...in dizzy love with your baby and NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!! What... you want to double my interest rate to 12 percent... okay...triple is fine too! lol

Fortunately, we already have one '06 MCSC, so hopefully the effect won't be quite as strong while we're picking up the new one. I might still have to make a list before we go, so I don't forget anything.

Again, congratulations, and keep pestering your hubby for pics!

My car made it to Newark distribution center. Asked if they had any priority to get through and was given no satisfaction - they told me that it could take up to a week. So, hopefully shortly I will have my mini.

Just spoke with ASKMINI guy "Dan" who told me how we were to be "compensated"

1) 4th year of schedule maintenance free
2) Free wind deflector
3) $250 in mini bucks???

Interesting.... this was from ASKMINI- lets see what the dealer says

My MA told me that he was forwarding on a letter he received from MINI regarding the compensation. I should have it tomorrow or possibly Thursday. It probably says the same thing you heard from ASKMINI.

I already ordered the wind deflector with my car, but I'd love to have another one for my wife's car. The 4th year of service is nice, too, although I don't know what the monetary value of it really is, considering that at most, it will probably just mean one more free oil change and perhaps brake pads.
I hope the $250 is good for anything in the parts department, and not just the trinkets/clothing in the showroom. We had a hard time finding something in the showroom to spend the $50 gift certificate on when we bought my wife's car, but I can spend $250 in the JCW catalogue very quickly.

I'll let you know if I find out anything else. I'm happy MINI is doing this for us - frankly, they didn't *have* to do anything, and since my MA gave me a very conservative delivery estimate to begin with ('early October' delivery with an August 9th order date), my car will actually only be about two weeks 'late' when it shows up at the dealer on the 20th.

I would have thought for certain you'd have your car by now! You're the only VIN-screwup guy I know that ordered before me. Mine finally showed-up at the dealership Saturday (complete with two VIN stampings on the shock tower). I should be picking it up tonight, assuming the service department gets all the options installed.

I only ordered mine a week after you, so hopefully your wait is just about over. I think the reason yours is taking so long is that yours was already on a boat when the VIN mistake was discovered. With my car, they were able to return it to the factory and have the VIN labels/stampings done there. For the cars like yours that were already enroute, MINI had to ship the stamping equipment to the vehicle distribution centers so that they could do the stamping.

Regardless, your wait is just about over now - hold on, the end's in sight!

what did you dealer say they are going to do to "make it up to you"? Did your dealer provide any paperwork since we will now have two sets of VIN #'s on the car?

I'm in (on) the same boat -- on the way to the US and had to be back tracked for the changes to be made in Oxford. I ordered 7/22 and am told the car should be here this week --it is at the VDC. The wind screen etc are part of the package now -- free gifts with purchase.
One nice gesture though is that my dealer gave me one of their loaners when mine didn't show up. So I have been driving a mini for a month now -- just not a cabrio.

I'm getting the standard "apology package" - the free windscreen, the $250 to spend at motoringgear.com, and the 4th year of free scheduled maintenance.

The only place on the car that has two VINs is the passenger shock tower - everyplace else the VIN appeared on the car, it was in the form of a label, so those were just replaced with new labels.

The dealer provided me a form letter with the VIN on it that says:

"Due to a stamping error at our plant in Oxford, England, the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on your MINI was incorrect. To correct this error, the VIN was crossed out and the correct VIN was re-stamped. All other affected labels were corrected.

We apologize for any inconvenience and the delay this may have caused in delivering your new MINI.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of our Customer Relations representatives by telephone at: 1-866-ASK-MINI or - if you prefer email - email us at:
MINI.Assistance@askminiusa.com

Thank you for your patience and understanding."

The form is signed and dated by the Sales Manager.

Cool! They must have caught mine before they stamped the wrong number, and I didn't get a bonus package either....

Don't worry my friend, I live in the snowbelt of Pennsylvania and get plenty of opportunity to put the top down in the winter. Get the wind deflector, roll up the windows, crank the heater up, put a hat and gloves on and ENJOY. I love seeing the looks on people's faces.

well... got the call while in Hawaii that my car is here and ready to be picked up... Told the dealer I could pick it up 11/16 when I return from hawaii... salesman says he wont be around until monday and I need to wait...

more waiting now until monday or tuesday... Im tempted to call them Monday and say there has been a delay in my drivers license number and I will get back to them in two weeks...

Told him I wanted to pay for the car with my amx so I could get the points.. no can do, they claim too much fraud... (basically saying they dont trust me even though Ive waited 3 extra months to buy a car) They say they require a certified check... good luck.. I dont even know the final number.

Mini better be careful with this arrogance in the way they treat their customers... its going to come back and bite them in the ***.
