M7 Strut brace

Ordered from Pelican and received last week directly from the vendor. But the strut braces on and torqued to spec, installed cross bar closed hood. Hood won't close properly. I put some tape on what appeared to be the highest parts of the brace-closed the hood and sure enough some stuck to the insulation under the hood. Called M7 and he suggested trimming the insulaton. Any done this? Does this sound right?

I bought some velcro which I would take to the brace and then the velcro will stick to the insulation and give me somewhat of a template. I just know if I should bother and just return the part.

Hello! I found a thread on NAM about the bar and the insulation HERE that may be useful to you. Look at post #3, #5, and #14.

Thanks again for your help. I'd much rather try the wetting than cutting method.
