bought an 05 cooper s with auto tranny. It has steering pedals. Need an easy way to find out if it's a CVT or not as I hear all kind of issues with these transmissions. Mine is doing a hard jerk, especially when warm + low speeds. If it is NOT CVT, is it as bad as those with CVT?

 

MINI Cooper S's do not come with CVT tranny's they came with Aisin GA6F21 transmissions. They are very jerky IMO especially in 1st and 2nd gear changes. You still should have a fluid change done as it may help slightly. Here is a great how to.
