R52 bent convertible frame?
bent convertible frame?
I am sorry if this thread has been covered repeatedly, but I am desparate for some guidance! I own a 2005 MCSC, I am the original owner and the car is in impeccable condition. In September, as I was opening the top(I live Jacksonville, FL) the passenger side of the sunroof did NOT go back as the driver side did. The frame was still latched in and I immediately closed the sunroof after perhaps 5-6 inches of movement of the driver's side retraction. After taking the car back to Tom Bush MINI, (who's service is horrible IMHO) They did NOT even say that the wire could be fixed! Tom Bush said that everything had to be replaced at an estimate of $4500! They would NOT even give me a parts list of what needed to be replaced! I took the car to a convertible shop that for 40 years has done tops for BMW, Audi, Porsche, etc. and they did warn me that there would be a "learning curve" since they hadn't worked on MINI Coopers' before. They did fix the sunroof operation, but now they are telling me the frame is bent because one of the mid-frame locks is not recognizing the request for the top to go down. The car has NEVER been wrecked, bumped, etc. Are there any good places in Florida that have MINI convertible top experience? I would travel to another dealer if people have had good experiences with the dealer! I apologize for my long winded explanation.... Thank You to everyone who can help!
Try to search in this forum. There are threads talking about this issue. Never heard of anyone bending their frame. usually it is the cable that breaks or something along those lines.. Friend got his fixed for less then a few hundred dollars...
