I can easily get a set in my R53. A convertible might be more difficult with the roll bars. You might get them in on the backs of the rear seats standing up and tie them back to the roll bars or seat back latch brackets. That's how I get them in mine.
I put four 215/45/17's in my car yesterday to take them to the tire place to change out the run flats. It was a litle bit of a tight fit and that was without rims and air in the tires. The 205/45/17's that came off the car fit better coming home because they were a little smaller, so it might depend on the size of the tires.
There are a couple ways to make em fit.
1. put one in boot, put back seats down stack 2 and lean the 4th against them.
2. back seats down and stand all 4 up.
