Can anyone tell me or link me to a step by step on what I need to purchase and replace to do a standard maintenance service on my mini by myself? Its a 2007 Sidewalk non S. Let me know! Thanx!

PS. I replaced the brakes myself and can no get my Brake warning indicator off. Anyone know how? Thanx again!

When I replaced my brakes, I recall there was a wire on the left front and right rear of the car. Not all mini's have this, but if you have these sensors, they should be replaced when changing the brakes. Basically, the sensor sits inside the inner brake pad and can tell when the pad is worn, as the sensor is then touching the rotor. If you did not replace these, the wires could just be connected making the sensor light luminate. The only other thing I'm aware of that could cause this, would be low brake fluid in the reservoir.

Here's a picture of the wire on the right rear caliper, you can see it going into the view hole and as states, clicks into the rear pad.

What other work are you looking to do to the mini? The oil filter in mine takes a rather large socket to get it out...other than that it's rather straight forward.

You'll need to buy at least one new brake pad wear sensor, it clips onto the brake pad - look for the one that has a wear spot on it where it rubbed the disc - that's the one you'll need to replace.

Did you replace your rotors when you did your pads? Depending on how many miles you have, it's not unusual to need new rotors too...

What other maint are you wanting to do? Your maint is free up to 3 years or 36K, how many miles are on your car?

If you're going to change your own oil, you'll need the shallow 36mm socket - Ebay has them for $10 - well worth it. Use 5W30 synth oil like Mobil 1, I usually find it on sale at Costco or Wal Mart in 6 packs. It's not unusual to need to add oil once in a while, so be sure you check it periodically and carry the extra quart with you.

Other than that, check your cabin filter and air filter......

For your brake light you'll need to replace the sensor for the axle that had the worn out pads, then leave the key on for a minute for it to reset.

For the service you'll need an oil filter, and the A/C micro filter. Then I'd also check the engine air filter. They say replace it about 60k, but I think 25-30k would be alot better cause they just get really dirty.
