I just replaced the driver's side cable on my '05 Mini using the excellent instructions from Not4no1:

Now I have an extra passenger's side cable. (The ps cable had already been replaced when I bought my car.)

Because you can only buy these cables in pairs, I thought I's save me and someone else the $216 extra you have to pay for buying two.
