My 06 lasted nearly four years before the shiny spots turned into fraying.....but they WILL begin fraying at some point if you see the shiny spots. Mine was replaced the final month of warranty coverage no questions asked. The new replacement roofs have a much larger protective patch over the rear windows to prevent wear.

Weather stripping

Can anyone tell me if they have had the rubber weather stripping replaced on the convertible? Mine is dry rotting. The Mini dealership will replace it for $450 bucks! Also, can you tell me what it is called and/or the OEM part name and number.

Thanks!

Mine has not dry rotted, but it has started to peel up in some places. I just very carefully used some super glue to put it back in place. I don't know what it is called, as far as a part, but I knew MINI would try and rape you in regards to replacing it.

As far as the top and wear marks, I had mine replaced by the dealer a few years ago, and the wear marks did re-appear after some time somewhat, but not as bad as the original did. To my surprise, using Ragg-Top on it greatly diminished the appearance of the marks. Also, I use a lint brush (3M sticky roller) to clean off the top and never use any kind of soap on it; spray off with water only.
