how does the convertible hold up if kept outside in NE winters (no garage)?
We're thinking of buying a used mini S convertible but we don't have a garage and we're concerned about potential damage to the cloth top from snow, ice, etc. Anyone have a convertible in the northeast that is kept outdoors all year round? What's been your experience? Any maintenance issues? Also, do you have a waterproof cover, and if so, has it been helpful or useless regarding heavy snow? thanks in advance for your feedback.
I had a convertible for a little over a year and she suffered a number of winter hits.

I was careful not to rub the cloth top when clearing snow, but leave a thin snow layer on the car.
More problem for me was that the heater couldn't warm up the car interior, when it was cold (20f and below) outside.

A cover will protect your car more than nothing. But I have had my 05 for years & it has always been parked outside. No problems so far, just keep the top treated with a protectant about once a year (some suggest every 6 months)
