My 05 S cabrio did weird things this morning. While driving to an appointment the service engine light and the "EML" light went on and I couldn't go over 25 mph(limp mode) . When I turned off the engine it shuddered to a stop. After the meeting it stared fine...but did not have positive boost on the supercharger, I could go down the road at 45- 50 mph but didn't have any real boost (or acceleration) when I pressed on the gas. Any ideas?

I'd suggest getting a code reader and finding out what it causing the Service Engine and Engine Maintenance lights to come on.

For about $65 you can get an Actron unit at Pep Boys, Sears, etc.

 

My wife's '05 S Cabrio did a similar act about a year ago. Brecht MINI asked her to drive it from Santee to their shop. She told them going 45 mph on a freeway during rush hour would be stupid. They sent a tow truck instead, and after sitting at the dealer for a month, they replaced the throttle body. I hope this is NOT your situation.

 

Our '05 Cabrio S- The crank pulley went bad on ours (@ 50,700 miles) and the belt for the Supercharger (and other stuff) finally overheated and snapped. We didn't have any mods... all stock. We had a few more lights come on on our dash than you though. The husband thought it seemed worse when the A/C was on. But the shudder and almost complete loss of power... ugh... sounded like she was choking to death. Hope your baby feels better soon.
