Thanks Bee, I saw that thread too. I did manage to find MossMini has something called BirdsEye, looks identical to the multivex. I ordered a rhs one, hopefully those aren't back ordered too.

Apologies again for the diversion.

I got to drive one as a loaner last week while my Mini was being checked out at the dealership. What a blast! I didn't know what I was missing. I had the loaner for two nice and warm days to enjoy. If I ever trade up I think I'll consider a Cabrio for sure. I steered away from it because I heard they were too hot to drive during the summer in this area. I heard that the air conditioning couldn't keep up and wasn't strong at all. I do see where that may be an issue with mine. I'm fine, but I have a white top and had the sun roof tinted which makes a huge difference. The black topped Cabrio I was loaned would surely be feeling the heat of our summers. I wonder why the air conditioning in our cars are not stronger?

I had an old Triumph Spitfire in college and always regretted letting it go. Watson will be a cherished forever friend. The joys of top down motoring in an English car are worth the adjustments IMHO.

The air conditioning, or lack there of was the reason I let mine go. Even when I had the silver car cover on it, it wouldn't cool.

Not only would I do it again, I very nearly did. I seriously considered ordering a new car identical to what I have just to set the odometer back to 0. I love the car and want to keep it a long long time. So I looked at the warrenty ending etc and considered ordering a new one before the converts go to the R56 platform which I'm not as fond of.

Alas it just didn't make economic sense. I've decided that I'll buy another car when THE MINI is payed off and cut back a bit on driving the MINI to weekends and just a couple nice days during the week. I've got my eye on the Chevy Volt as a potential commuter car.

Only 1 day do I recall it being too hot to drive top down. On a club run after a couple hours of intense sun, temp in upper 90's and humidty in high 80's. We were at a light and a couple club members started to tease me about putting the top up. I suggested that only those hardtops that were running with no A/C on and all windows and sunroof open could tease me. The radio got quiet. I put the top up and the A/C was fine. It helps if you use the remote to open at least the windows and covnert sun roof mode. That lets a lot of heat out.

My wife and i love ours...test drove 3 (s,non-s,and our cabrio) before we bought MAXX. For us...we would rather have the heated seats, hid lights, navigation, cvt, and of course ragtop with the sliding roof . So our rear vision suffers....I am not concerned with what's behind---only looking forward to our FUTURE years of fun, top-down motoring !!!

Our MINI is confirmed at the dealership. Our cool MA sent pictures of it and reminded the prep guys to be thorough yet gentle, no dealer logos or drilled bumpers. Now we're looking at this Saturday or the following Tuesday for pickup!

Hmm... posted in a different thread, was it a technical glitch or just me?

Well, it is a convertible.

The crescent shaped etching on the rear side windows is not from dirt. It is from a mechanism inside that is not adjusted correctly. My wife is on her 3rd set of rear sides all replaced under warranty.

I for one would do it again. I love the second convertible I've ever had. (2005MCS) There is something special about a convertible....

My first was a 1952 Plymouth 3 speed column shift with overdrive.

(Actually it was my first car)

Our convertible only has 3000 miles on it, but right now I'll say I would definitely do it again. I really enjoy getting out and being outside, and the convertible lets me do that. And it doesn't hurt that its fun to drive as well. I've never owned a car that I've said I will never trade in, but I will probably drive this mini till it is dust.

I think he's talking about the horizontal line that forms near the bottom of the rear window in the folding top, not the side windows.

I have a similar mark on my cabrio. Although it hasn't etched/scratched the glass itself, there's a permanent dirt line across a decal I have on the lower part of the rear window.

I have noticed the side window etching on our cabrio..haven't taken to dealership, yet. But it DEFINITELY has nothing to do with dirt. Dirt CAN do that in extreme circumstances, but ours is something more deliberate.
STILL WOULD GET ANOTHER RAGTOP!!!

I've been driving my 05 MCSC for 2 1/2 years. (have hardtop also), and your right about visability. However, I've become a better driver because of it. I seem to look in my side mirrors more, I pay more attention to who's around me. I live in San Diego, so I drive topless alot.... well, not really topless, top down.. :-)

Our Mini was purchased just for fun and top down weather. Yes the backing up with the top up is bad, but I would do it again in a heart beat. It's even more fun to drive with the wind screen from EV.
