Is This Normal?

Three weeks ago, I bought a slightly used silver, 2005 MINI ragtop. Since then I find myself actually looking forward to driving to work and then being a bit sad when I arrive and have to park the car and reluctantly put the top up and (...sigh...) get out to walk from the parking lot to my office. I sneak out to the garage in the evening to clean the windshield or armorall the plastic bits. I find myself here looking at pictures of MINIs and reading your posts. I keep asking my wife if I can go down to the store to get anything she might need that night or next week or...

I tell ya this just ain't normal ...is it?!

Should I seek professional help?

No, it's not normal, you big clown !

Don't feel bad, I've had my CR Cooper for over a year and I still catch myself leaning forward in my driver's seat to get a peak at the bonnet just to see how gorgeous the paint is.

By the way, I don't do that in heavy traffic or when I'm driving more than 45 mph or so.

Welcome to the sickness! I have had mine for almost a year and a half and althought I dont get to drive her as much as I would like I still go out in the garage when I am home and check on her...clean the windows or whatever strikes my fancy. MINI OCD is right!

You are a new MINI owner-we would be concerned if you DIDN'T act that way with your new MINI. Of course it doesn't change-you'll always be acting like that with your MINI.

So then this is a permanent condition?

Oh well, I guess we all have to learn to live with our handicaps or uh, I mean ..different enablings (or something like that). I guess it beats the heck out of hyperlipidemia, or quadraplegia, or encephalytis or something else I have trouble pronouncing.

Maybe the cure is ....buy ANOTHER one!

For the non-psychotheraputically inclined among the listening audience, OCD is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (Think Monk on USA network). It can equally be applied to MINI owners, especially those who detail their cars more than once per (insert any time period you want less than a month).

Also Owner's Cleaning Directive.
It is the little voice. The voice in my head. I mean the MINI voice that
tells me to wash, polish, wax. Again wash, polish, wax.
Make it stop. Make it stop, I say! I just can't take it any more !!!
But seriously, the shine looks really good though. You think?

Now you got the idea.
My wife loves my Cabrio.
So the cure may be to get her one of her own.
She can't drive mine, it's a 6 spd.
She needs an automatic. Lucky me.
More time for me to drive, and wash..polish..wax.

Yeah, I worked a claim the other day for a guy who had a $104,000 Mercedes (total loss). I thought... he could have bought 4 MINIs with that money and even after one was totalled, he'd still have three. :impatient

Icon looks like a Green Apple Martini duh ... a Margarita, of course.
I gave up the cheeseburgers in paradise for veggies.
Now my paradise is driving the coast with unlimited headroom.

Lovin' my MINI Cooper S Cabrio
