Extended Maintenance

Has anyone else bitten the bullet and opted for the extended maintenance? I was in a pinch. I put alot of miles on Lily and just before I hit the 36,000 mile mark, BMW upped the extended maintenance offer to 100,000 miles. So I opted in. It was about $1500 and I figure I'm merely pre-paying for upcoming wear and tear stuff like brake pads and timing belt, clutch etc. I'm flush at the moment. So it seemed to make sense. No doubt that had I not, I would need a clutch at the worst moment finance-wise.

Anyone else? If you have, any surprises?

FYI, I have a 2005 Cabby. Purchased end of model year. 38K after 18months. Only issues thus far, knock wood.

A bad passenger seat airbag sensor and a leaky thermostat.

EDIT: Oops! Just saw the other thread on this topic. SORRY!

I've been debating this. I have an 05 MCS (August production date) with 22,000 miles - so it ends next month. Still going back and forth on it.

I got a transferrable 7yr/70,000 mile with mine. The original owner paid 2G's for it...so I must say, it was money well spent.

That said, I don't think I would ever get one for myself...I really don't like others working on my cars and always do the repairs myself. I can also state that I've had really good luck with my cars too...

I got the maintenance plan with my new MCc. I used to have a BMW motorcycle and an ex had a Z3. I wasn't looking forward to those service bills again. I financed it with my car, so yes I'm spending more with interest. But it's a lot easier for me to pay $15 a month. Than to come up with $500-$1,000 all at once. Because I just know that service bill will come when I owe my property taxes and motorcycle insurance.

I got the 6yr/100k maint. package.

I get these things on my cars because:
1. I plan to keep my cars
2. I hate unplanned costs
3. I don't like to stress about cars

n my prius, I have platinum warranty + maint. package.

As for "Will it be worth it?". It's a gamble. Nobody knows whether it'll pay for itself or not. But at least you'll be able to sleep at night and not worry about it.

Extended maintenance

I am going to pick up my new mini (base cabrio) this afternoon and I called the dealer to schedule. They indicated that the extended maintenance was available and that for the $1500 I would be avoiding $5000 in maintenance costs. $5000 in maintenance costs? Does that include such things as clutches, tires, timing belts, o2 sensors, struts? If so, its a deal. Otherwise, if it just includes tuneups, oil changes, etc., I am a little dubious...
Also, I wonder whether this will extend the roof warranty to 100K/6 years.

You need to do a little research to find out what exactly is covered. This is not a warranty, it only covers a limited number of maintenance items.
