R50/53 Tan Interior...Is It Available?
#2
Nope - kinda sucks, huh? Maybe a ploy to discourage S sales? Well, it didn't work  Anyway, I think there's another trim color for 2003 and you can choose the silver that used to only be available in the regular Cooper. Think everything else is the same. My perfect combo would have been Pepper White, black top, tan leather interior w/the black trim, chrome-grille - all on the S...ahhh...in a perfect world.

You can also do what I did and get the blue lapis and black leather. Actually I didn't have much of a choice since it was a spec'd car from the factory but I do like it. It looks great. I do have the dark silver and white top, my wife wanted the pure silver and black top but they didn't have one with all of the features I wanted so we settled for the the one we got and I have no regrets. You can see it on pages 31 & 32 of the members mini's. I didn't post any interioir shots though.

>>So I'm solid on the color decision (dark silver) and white top (up in the air still) but is it possible to get a tan interior in the S version? Not just the accents but the whole thing (seats, doors). I think a tan interior with dark silver would go together well. Black interior is ok but isn't my pick.>>>>>
IMO, YUCK!

I just sent an email off to MINI last week regarding the color combos. I wanted my S to be Liquid yellow with the Lapis Blue interior (This combination is available in the UK, but not in the US). The rep wrote me back and basically said that the combinations on the website are the combinations that are available up until that moment. That they had tried to determine which combos would be most accepted in North America, blah, blah, blah. He also said to check back because they are looking at future changes and the site would reflect that. So basically, no. We can only have what is on the site. That said, it's funny how the US site doesn't reflect the new "anthracite" trim that IS available in the states now...supposedly.
