R50/53 My poor MINI
Possible Unichip problem
Easter Weekend was not a good time for Blue Brummie. Driving around Nashua NH for about an hour, I was accelerating to get onto Rt 3 S and suddenly the engine sputtered uncharacteristically, then it stalled for a second or so. I eased off the gas, and it fired up again. I pulled off the road, and the car sputtered, wouldn't hold idle. I shut it down and started again, but again it wouldn't hold idle and it was misfiring badly. I did a quick check. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. All connections looked OK. I reseated the ECU connections for my Unichip. Still misfiring.
Not sure what it is. Hoping for the best.
Waiting for the fine team at MINI of Peabody to give me run down....

UPDATE --
The dealership started the car this morning, and it's been running fine ever since. Initally they left the Unichip attached, but the SES light stayed on. They have since, with my permission, disconnected the UNICHIP, reset the computer, and the car is running fine. I'm going to pick it up tonight and drive it without the Unichip for a day or two.
Has anyone had a similar, out of the blue, issue with the ECU, or more specifically with a Unichip aftermarket add on ? Has anyone had a Unichip fail after 30K miles or so ??
Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Update
I picked up Blue Brummie yesterday and it's working perfectly without any work done by the dealership. When they first analyzed it with the Unichip, it was working fine as well, but they said they couldn't clear the SES light. That didn't make sense to me, but I'll take their word for it.
I gave them permission to take off the Unichip. I'm going to drive it for a couple of days and then I'll reattach the Unichip and see what happens.
So, here's my question for everyone. When I reattach the Unichip, other than the SES light coming on, or the engine misfiring again, how can I tell if there's anything wrong with the Unichip ?? Are there any indicator lights that would tell me if something is amiss ?
I've contacted Unichip by email, but no response yet.
Any help would be appreciated.
