"the american turbo PT Cruiser has more hp and performance"
Even though it's not out until the fall and could well blow up under hard accelleration, you already know this? A PT cruiser fan who has a bruised ego about MINI stealing the spotlight perhaps?
You constant negative posts about every aspect of the MINI begin to make sense to me now.

Enlighting article....Wonder if the Euro PT Cruiser is getting supercharger like the mini...the american turbo PT Cruiser has more hp and performance....must be a cost issue for euro cars....with this deal good till 2007 looks like mini unfortunately is saddled with the same engine performance for 5 more years.....looks like changes will come in just styling....cheers

My question, on a body shape like the PT Cruser, would one WANT a lot of power? Personally, with as mis-shapen as it looks, I wouldn't want the ability to throw it into turns...
(and w/my fake exp. with it in Grand Truismo, it's not a bad car, but it's lacking in that sportability catagory...)

Sorry for the double post, but for thoes who did not feel like reading the article, and for thoes who seem to be TROLLing the messageboards talking about the engine change, here's the most telling part of the article...
And wow, it doesn't mention anything about the PT cruser Nolan, so how did that come up in this topic?

"We formed the [Tritek] joint venture under totally different conditions," the BMW insider said. "Firstly, our partner was Chrysler and then suddenly it was DaimlerChrysler. Then, BMW sold Rover and we no longer needed engines in such big numbers."
Conditions have also changed for Chrysler. For one thing, Chrysler is a partner in DaimlerChrysler's new "world engine project" with Mitsubishi and Hyundai.

Hardly...lol...just curious why they would produce 2 different engines for the same car, one american, the other euro...doesn't seem like economy of scale to me.....my son has a neon with the 150hp and even though it had about the same performance as my mini S, the car really is very poor quality, so I'm no fan of any chrysler products including their engines...thats why it was dissappointing to see they will have the Chyrsler engine till 2007 in the minis.....now if Chrysler could bring back the 426 hemi with weber carbs that would be something, but it would be hard to fit it in a mini...lol!....
I added my name to the wait list...#2 for the John Cooper Works edition coming in the middle to late 2003.....it will be fun to compare it to the orginal S, but it will still be a Chyrsler, but hopefully John will put his stamp of approval on it! cheers!
