It is supposed to work that way; called "theater lighting". It will fade out after a preset time. Only way to do away with it completely is to pull the bulb.

On my car ('06), my dome light comes on when I get in the car, and immediately goes off when I start the engine. If I don't start the engine, the dome light automatically goes off after about 15 seconds. I think your car has a problem and you should have your dealer look at it.

Mine has done this a couple of times, but it happens after I exit the car and lock the doors. I've waited up to 10 minutes before unlocking the car, turning off the dome light then shutting/locking the door. I have not gone to the dealer with it yet cause it doesn't happen often.

When you manually push the dome light button off--hold the button a few seconds and it will not illuminate again until you physically turn it back on. Discovered that on old posting.

I never knew that! I see it's described in the Owner's Manual. However ga/girl's car still needs to be checked by the dealer.
