R50/53 Has anybody had this issue with the TSW damper?
Has anybody had this issue with the TSW damper?
While installing my TSW damper today (2006 MCS) I encountered a bit of a problem which they (TSW) said they have never heard before. When installing the rear bracket, a pair of re-enforcing spot welds on the original engine mount "arms", at the 45 degree bend, interfere with the bracket laying flat against the strut tower.
TSW said just put a washer on the backside of the bracket where it bolts through the arm and into the strut tower, to space it out the amount needed. I'm not one to "fudge" things, so I thought about filing two slots into the bracket so it would fit snugly aagainst the tower and over the welds.
Has anybody had this issue and what was your solution.
Thanks, Gene

Am I the only one?
Come on guys, I can't be the only one who had a Mini factory welder get a little carried away, (probably a robot anyway)
. Surely with all of the TSW dampers installed, somebody ran into this, right?:

Nope...
I had the same issue when I installed mine last night. I just put the thick black washer behind the bracket and it lined up just fine. I could see where you could file off the offending part of the bracket, but then the washer was included so I used that.
just my .02
just my .02
Thanks
I hadn't heard back from anybody until I had already installed, so I took and filed a 45 degree angle in the bracked where it goes over the welds, so now the bracket fits flush against the tower. I did not want to touch the actual welds, just in case I need any dealer work.
Thanks for the reply.
