Question about "heated mirrors"

Hey guys, I have a question for those that have the heated mirror option....if you touch the mirror glass itself is it warm to the touch??? It's been super cold here in VA (as well as the rest of the country) we had a little weather here yesterday and I needed to clean the salt off the mirror itself but when I went to do it, the glass was really cold....I had a VW with heated mirrors and when you touched them, you could burn your fingerprints off on to the glass....is there a switch to turn them on/off that I'm not seeing or is it possible I've popped a fuse/relay?? My heated seats work perfect.....my heated washer nozzles did freeze up after a bit of driving....are they switched together somehow???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

Thanks!!!!

they should warm up automatically, but im guessing that if the weather is too cold, that would make them take longer to warm up.

I touched my mirrors just two mornings ago when I was dropping my son off at school... just to see if they work as advertised. They do. They were nice and warm on a morning when the outside temp was around 15 degrees. And the car had been started just 5 minutes beforehand.

so mine must have some issues

anyone else?? are they contingent on the heated seats being on? I wouldn't think so but my heated seats work and my washer nozzles seem to be hit or miss....i just went down and tried them and they are working again but still no mirrors......anyone know if they have their own fuse or relay....are all 3 of them tied to the same circuit?? I guess I should got buy a bently and see if there is anything in there about them.....don't feel like going to the dealer and taking it in the rear just for the mirrors.....if anyone has anyother ideas I'd love to hear them

Thanks to those that have given replies!!!!!

Everyone stay warm out there!!!!

The heated mirrors and washer jets are on fuse F35. They are simply tied to the ignition switch and should be heating whenever the engine is on -- doesn't matter the temperature and not tied to heated seats or other accessory. That's how it is described in the Owner's Manual and I verified it in the Haynes manual wiring diagram.

Yes, anytime the car is on my mirrors are always hot, even when it is 75 degrees.
