I don't care where the glass is made as long as it's to the correct specs.
In all honesty I don't believe that was the case. He was talking pretty frankly with me. Long, boring story but his company ended up not using PPG glass on my 1st replacement & when I refused the glass they gave me an unconditional warranty which I took advantage of 6 months later thanks to a rock blah blah blah. While installing the PPG we yakked & he said PPG was MUCH better than what they had previously installed but not nearly as good as it used to be. The USA glass he recommended was not readily available but he told me I could request it. He basically said that his company's profit margin wasn't as high as it could be because while they try to push cheap glass on the unknowing they do not pass along an upcharge to people like me who request a better name glass. So basically he was telling me to request whatever I want & they will not charge me extra for it. Unless he was a total sleeze & falsely steering me away from PPG for no good reason (& he wasn't I am a pretty good judge of character) I kinda believe what he said

It's not just the trucks that leave the stuff. After they finished the new overpass from 1-95 to I-495 (The beltway) in Norhtern VA I noticed that the entire left sholder was covered with rocks and excess asphalt pieces that they left there. This was within a few hours of them opening the overpass for traffic. I would think that they should atleast clean it up before they open it to traffic, but they didn't. Thanks go out to them A-holes.

With less than 3,000miles we got our first crack. Since moving to Missouri we had to replace numerous windshields. Gravel trucks, garbage all over the roads (brooms, laders, landscape stones and everything else you can think of).

The other day there was some jack a$$ that had a load of rock on a 18’ wood floor flat bed! No tarp and rocks falling out between the boards with every little bump in the road!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!! They just do not care about your car!!!!!!!!

We just got our estimates yesterday $460 from Mini and $269 from a local shop. The Mini dealership said we also need to replace the upper seal because it was a one use only. The local shop at first did not know what a Mini was.

Go local all the way . The dealer tried to tell me a load-o-crap about my A-Pillars being for one time use (they are sold in pairs only for $90+ ). I called MiniUSA & they told me that just wasn't true. I am on windshield #3 & so far all my "one-time" use parts are still there

Another a-hole Jeep driver here. I can't count the number of times I've pulled back on the road from the desert and someone proceeds to tailgate me. I really do feel for these folks, but they seem to have a windshield deathwish. I run the OE Goodyear MT/Rs that came on my jeep, so I'm not one of those guys who's putting on 38" super swampers and picking up stones the size of your fist.

When in the MINI, I stay the heck away from others, as I know all too well that a rock can fly out before I can react. I've had good luck with that strategy - 6500 miles, including a drive from ATL to Albuquerque and no windshield damage to speak of.

Here is how . My Toyota pickup caught a rock in the rear window from a guy weedeating alongside the road. I am driving along and then all of a sudden, my whole rear window disintegrates (it's tempered - breaks into tiny pieces) . Neither one of us could believe it, but his company paid the bill.
