Engine Block Heater (or Dipstick Tube Heater)

This seemed to be the proper forum to post this in. It isn' really a mod, per se.

I live in CT. We get cold weather. I have no garage. I have an engine block (oil pan) heater that attaches to an AC extension cord, for my Jeep. I would like to get the same thing for my 2006 MCSa, or at the very least a dipstick tube heater, which is not as effective, but better than nothing. Does anyone know if such a thing is available for my little girl?

Thanks!

I was going to ask the same question...I was so excited in summer to get my Mini I completely forgot to check into the block heater, and we get -35 here!!! I will check with the dealer here and see what the deal is.

I wonder if the oil dipstick heater would help considering the synthetic oil. I had one on an old car (before there was synthetic oil) and it helped a lot (kept the oil thin so the starter could spin the motor faster), but I didn't think that synth. oil got as "thick" in the cold as regular oil. Anyone know for sure?
