If you have LSD......

.......do you hear a slight, high-pitched groan starting out in first gear like I do? I'm told this is common in cars with LSD. It's slightly annoying. Can anything be done about it?

THere is a TSB on the subject, if you complain to the dealer they can change the fluid to one that is more silent, however I thought it applied to cars before yours, now I need to check....

LSD Groan threads

Herby,

There are a couple of threads discussing LSD groan. Usually an '05 issue for tight turns at low speed. Yours happens when starting out in first.

My '02 MC had a singing clutch sometimes when starting out. Fixed with clutch replacement at 30K.

The middle thread is a little different and refers to grinding noises.

Happy reading ......

I hope that helps you out.

The info is much appreciated, especially since the dealer didn't mention it. The groan seems to be affected more by colder temperatures, so I'll wait to see what happens....won't be long. It's nice knowing that a potential fix is out there.

Remember, the power steering motor makes a similar sound. Some people have confused them.
