Real Smart Question ;-)

I just bought an 03 MC last night... So I'm brand new! Anyhow, my tire light came on, I checked the pressure... inflated to 35lbs, they were at 30. The light is still on and I don't know where the reset button is for the tire light. Anyone know where the button is?

As a matter of fact..that's exactly where it is! I pressed the button, turned on the car, drove around for a few... stopped at the gas station, turned the car off and checked the pressure... all good... turned the car on and VOILA! No light. Hopefully it stays that way. Thanks for the help... this newb really appreciates the quick reply.

Welcome to owning a Mini!

BTW, 35psi sounds high. Check the sticker on your door jamb. Ours says 30 lbs unless you're going over 100 mph.

Another nifty trick. If you are driving and the light coems on (it's done it to me 3 times now) and you KNOW nothing has happened, you can hold the button down for ~10sec and the light it shut off.

Welcome!

actually that is exactly what im saying, except minus 5 psi really, because i took some account into the air expanding at higher temps.

ive found nothing wrong with it yet, i mean the ride quality is a little harsher, but i find the car bites a little harder through turns, and tends to give a little better MPG's (though negligible, like a half MPG). Im aware thats a pretty lot of air packed in teh tire, but the Pirellis say that the tire can max at 50psi, and seeing as ive expereienced no problem with it yet, i feel pretty comfortorable. im sure if i hit a sizeable pothole id definitely feel it in my back and my wheel and tire might take a decent hit, but im not a woman driver (no offense to woman, they are fine drivers i just ifnd every weoman i drive with does this...) and i not only look ahead to whats coming on traffic wise, but to what is lying down on teh road (e.g. potholes, palfrons, etc.)

The flat-tire sensor is my friend. I've never been stranded thanks to it!!!

That's the longest sentence I've ever read. Must be a 'man sentence'

...brings to mind Hunter S. Thompson, putting 90lbs. in the 'experimental' tires on his Caddy in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," as the station attendent slowly backs away...

45 PSI is a ton...look at the label in the door. I'd be surprised if the tires aren't wearing unevenly. But if they seem to be okay and it works for you, I guess I'd carry on with it...

lol touche. i knew i was posting an iffy comment, and ive been with woman who are better drivers than most if not every dude i know, ive just been in the passenger seat with far more women who just slam over pomfrons, or i have to tell them to look out because there is a squirrel in the middle of the road, or a homless man (i kid i kid with the second one).

as to the 45, it seems to be wearing fine, so im still really none to concerned with it. i just always assumed the lower pressure in the door panel was mainly for the sake of ride quality. i rememebr thats how my accord's was, but then again a MINI is a very different car than an accord, maybe over the weekend ill bring it down a little to maybe 40

I can't understand how putting 45psi in your tires would make the car handle better. I would think you'd get less grip due to the curvature of the contact patch.

well ive never actually measured my actual performance, but theres a nice sized round about in my friends neighborhood that i take pretty quickly, and with the higher PSI it definitely makes the car feel a lot more lively, though admittedly when the car does break, the front end breaks quick, with the lower PSI it was a lot more progressive, for that alone if i were autocrossing or on a track id proabbly drop the PSI a bit, but for daily driving, and trying to pack a few extra bucks away from the tank, the higher pressure has definitely helped my mileage some (not enough to make a huge diff as mentioned above) and brought IMO a slightly more lviely feel to the car. Also the higher air pressure definitely creates less rolling friction, so straight line performance technically should be improved (though that is of course very very very very negligible)

though let me add for the round about, i dont condone it, and only utilized it personally a few times

I'm offended by that most men can write sentences that have a perfectly reasonable amount of punctuation and know when enough is enough like always making sure that your writing is able to convey your point clearly without confusing the reader or causing a migraine because migraine can really ruin your life because you could really miss a lot of work and without work you can't support your family that is if you have a family if you want a family you really should have one because kids are such a blessing.

Anyway, 45 psi seems a little high.

The rating on the door is what you should set the tires to, maybe a little higher, 3-4 puonds. The rating on the tire is for the max the tire should be filled to. The tire can go on many different cars with higher load ratings.

Thanks... and I was just starting to get over my headache...

Running 32 psi in non-RF's.

redrocket: I find it hilarious that you left out any capitalization from your post, but you still manage to capitalize MINI properly.
