ahem, 56.5K as of this morning on a 2k5 But thats not the whole story - 26K of that has been done in the past 8 months or so.

I have not cleaned it in about two weeks, and that includes a 1100 mile round-trip to AZ and a 300 mile blast through the canyons the previous sunday. I did clean the windscreen a couple of times as the dead bug build-up was getting dangerous.....

Daily driver, weekend rocketship and track-day weapon.

Like I say, no time to clean it

I hand wash both of them at least once a week.
I wax both of them with NXT Synthetic at least once a month.
I claybar every 3 months.
Let's not even talk about the number of Q-Tips I go through.

Can I join the OCDMO Club ??
Please make sure the "Q-tips" are the real ones with the 100% cotton tips. They are made by Unilever in Greenwich, CT. The generic ones really pis* me off

Must've had a bad experience. Yep, the real ones are not only 100% cotton, they tend to have thicker tips on them... less chance of scratching the paint.

I use them to clean up the edge of the clearbra that gets wax build up. They work perfectly.

Does it count if I have made a list and checked it thousands of times for what I plan on doing when I actually receive my MINI?

I have even figured out when I will remove once a month to polish them and make sure there is no sign of brake dust.

Splatt!!

I upgraded to the JCW package so I can swerve to avoid bug splatter.

Is that so wrong?

I kiss the Mini symbol on the steering wheel to say goodnight every night when im done motoring for the day. . . a few weeks ago my neighbors had some people over and there were several people outside, so i had to shut off my interrior lights and wait untill no one was looking to kiss my baby goodnight.

  1. I detailed the dealer loaner MINI while mine was in service?
  2. Worse I did this twice?
  3. I bought a $300 Deionized water filter system so I can wash my black MCS perfectly!
  4. Anytime I see a swirl, I have to polish it out!
  5. I used to wash my IB/W MC once every 6 weeks, but now I can't go for less than 3 days with a dusty JB/JB MCS, so now I'm washing twice a week.
  6. When I had white wheels, I Quik Detailed them twice a day with a microfiber towel--did that for 3 years and 67,000 miles!
  7. I'm on a mission to wipe out all the rock chip marks and there are lots!
  8. Touch up blobs aren't acceptable on my MINI--so I'm wetsanding and polishing them to blend them in after putting down 6 layers of base coat and 5 layers of clear over a 2 week period!

Richard, You really didn't need to post in this thread. Most of us already knew you hold a high position in The Club... maybe even club President.

http://www.langka.com

Of course it is woefully inadequate for a true OCDer

Oh I got some Langka, and it's great stuff for removing excess paint blobs (especially when I accidentally got touchup where it shouldn't be), but it doesn't produce the same results as wetsanding and buffing--like you said.

I bought new microfiber cloths, just for the mini.
Did a Meguiars 3-stage detail the weekend I got the car.
I refused to drill the front bumber for the plate, so I got the GoMiniGo license plate mount.
Weekly washings include the visible motor bits. (insert facial tics here).
I wave at Minis, even when I'm in not in my Mini.
Hey, OCD has to start somewhere!

Yeah, okay, I'll give you that. It is a pretty good start. But you did hear about the Newbie's OCD Quiz to get into the club, right ? Okay, here we go:

1. True or False. The "t" in Griot's Garage is silent.

2. Put the following detailing steps in their proper order:

Claybar
Wash with Dawn
Sealant
Wash with Car Shampoo
Wax
Buff
Wax
Buff
Polish
Wash with Car Shampoo
Take a break
Buff

3. What is the molecular makeup of Prima Epic synthetic wax ?

Get all three right and you're in. Good luck.

Related to this topic I started a while ago: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=70808

BTW, I parked a few blocks(who are we kidding, it was more like 5 blocks or so)from the resturant. Found a very sweet parking spot. Right between two driveways. The space was just right for the MINI.

Anyways, I have to go into Manhattan tomorrow afternoon. The weather forecast calls for heavy rainand wind for most of the day. First of all, I do not drive into Manhattan in the MINI unless if I'm gonna drive through. I was deciding how to get there via public transit. I decided on train, ferry and subway. But I'm not sure about parking at the train station. Might need a resident permit. Not sure but I'm not gonna risk it so I'm just gonna walk through the rain for more than a mile to the train station.

I've only had my MINI a couple of weeks, but the obsession is growing.

1. I too have been known to take q-tips to my MINI...the real cotton ones.
2. I have bought more expensive towels to dry it off/wax it with then I spend on myself.
3. I make sure to park it where I can see it out my window.
4. I have actually threatened the gardners that if they come by my MINI one more time with their weed wacker I'm gonna @%#*... (and I'm really this very sweet person)
5. I also dust my dash while sitting at traffic lights
6. I inspect it for scratches and marks everytime I get in/out
7. I clean off all leaves, twigs, and flower petals off my bonnet every morning when I get in
8. I tell him good morning and good night and to behave himself when I run into a store

So I may not be as obsessive as some, but all this coming from a person who never cared one way or another about my cars in the past (until I got my MINI), I think my list is pretty impressive!

I cannot stop washing long enough to drive mine. I keep q-tips handy at all times and wax is part of my under hood cleaning. My wife says that I am sick. The Beast is also stored under an indoor car cover.

I've been paying $125 a week to keep my MINI spottless.

$15 a day for a reserved covered parking spot in DTLA. Used to pay $2 a day with my Volvo, but keeping Bluey away from the elements is worth it.

$25 a week in cleaning products; MF clotchs, glass cleaner, q-tips, wax, etc.

$25 a week has gone to my car wash. I don't have driveway, so the major washing is done by professionals.
