When I see this picture, I can't help but wonder..."Do you think he'd sell me the wheels?"
But seriously. This was a big selling point for me. I drove a Volvo before, and I'd have a hard time driving anything that I didn't think would protect my wife and dogs.
Thanks for those pics. It gives me more ammunition for those people who say it can't be safe...It's too small. Seeing all the pics make me feel just as safe in my mini as I do in my parents H1.
Strange that the passenger front airbag didn't seem to have gone off.
Doesn't the passenger airbag stay off (it won't deploy) if there isn't anyone sitting there? I know when I put my book bag in the passenger seat, it doesn't weigh enough and the "passenger airbag off" light stays on the whole time. If no one is sitting in the passenger seat, the light comes on briefly when the car is started, then goes off. I always thought it isn't even activated unless someone of a certain weight (40 lbs?) sits there.

That makes sense. Although I guess the side curtain bag isn't hooked up to those sensors.
I"ve never been really worried about front end collisions, it's the rear passengers in rear ends that i'm worried about.
Ditto me too. I drive with kids in the back too, and that's the only thing that concerns me. I know they say kids are ALWAYS safer in the back seat of a car, but I can't help but wonder if my 5 year-old wouldn't be safer up front. I realize that flying glass is much more of an exposure up front, but aside from that, what makes the front seat inherently less safe than riding in back?
The MINI does very well in front crash tests, but it doesn't fare as well in rear enders.
actually i was riding with my sis in her MC and we were rear ended by some small sports car that was doing about 15 while we were sitting in traffic...the other car had about $1000 damage while my sister only needed a new chrome piece that had gotten scratched...when i got out of the car after we got hit to go look at the damage i was suprised that it didnt even look like we were touched
