If you haven't gotten your recall letter yet, be on the look out in the mail. There is a problem with the rear strut. In some 2003 MINIs(both models) The strut screw under pressure make crack and break, causing the entire car to drop on to the tire. Please make your appointment to have this fixed

 

Is there a set of build dates this effects? Does someone have more detail on exactly which MY03 MINI's this applies to?

I believe this was posted here a few months ago. I THINK it involves those built from the end of Sept-late October/Early Nov 2002.

I'm an early Sept build so I apparently just missed it!

 

Thanks greatgro! I was kinda freakin' out my three-day-old-MCS already had a recall

...so it probley applies to early '03 builds.

 

Hmm, I wonder if that's what the clunking I always hear from the rear of the car is... time to go to the dealer...

 

According to the info I looked up, the affected build dates are September 25 through November 14, 2002. I just caught the tail end of that one.

Took Buttercup to the dealer this week and they had her fixed in about 10 minutes. (They also washed her and topped off the gas while I was there. :smile: )
