Hey! The only times I have ever heard the Black Ice Warning Ding happened as I motored through Arizona in April this year! I heard it between Kingman and Flagstaff, and again several times before I got to New Mexico! I was thrilled to finally hear it, too!
Happened to me this morning as well... I was freaking out. I've never heard the noise before and thought something was broken... then I saw the temp flashing on my OBC...
Ha ! Glad I read this thread. I was wondering what the hell was going on with "Bergey". He never made that noise before. Sounded like he had a little gas (pun intended).
Yep, 34 degrees here in central MD this morning. Brrrrrrrrrrr... those heated seats felt really good though !
I won't be able to enjoy or utilize all the features of my car (like this ding) as you people are. I live in Hawaii and will probably never use that feature.

Gee, my frickin' heart BLEEDS for you, man. Really, I feel your pain. Sucks to be you!
I live in CA and don't have that ding but I could imagine a nice fun run in the snow.
AAAAhhhh.... NO.. I moved here from the Pocono Mtns in Penn. I know what it is like to shovel my car out of the snow and drive in it. My favorite phrase now is " I never have to shovel my car out of the sunshine! "
Ok but I do admit spinning donuts in the local mall parking lot was a blast.. but was much more fun in my 73 Duster with RWD.... FWD you have to do it backwards...

Gonzo, I think the only place in Hawaii where it might be cold enough would in on top of Mauna Loa in January.
Tomorrow I think I might ask my MINI dealer to put in a higher grade antifreeze if they can, cause man its gettin cold, it was in the low 40s this weekend in NY

AAAHH thats Northern AZ... we dont go there when its cold...That why god created such a vast altitude difference here... So we can stay warm, and go get cold only when we have a momentary laps of reason .... trust me, doent happen often.
