OmToast: The wheel was changed around November/December to a thicker type with perforated perimiter leather and thumb-grips. It is not related to any packages.

I don't know about the wheel, but it's extremely exciting to see all of the colors for the Cooper interior starting to be available for the S!

I want the Lapis in a Chile Red with UJ roof - now that would be cool!

That was the interior I wanted - I think my first comment on this site was that I wanted Cordoba beige with the BRG. I hope they're offering it soon.

Hmm... liking the wheel not so much. I hope that won't be standard on the '04s. I can't probably order mine until after Sept 1st, though, so it looks like that's going to be something I'll have to live with. Poop. I just hope the multi-function looks better.

Am I the only person alive who still likes Beetles? I mean, I LOVE my MINI, but my Beetle was a good car. Sporty, roomy, comfortable, especially on long trips, great cruise control, good mileage, attractive interior (I really miss the blue guages... I'm thinking of ways to modify mine...), the biggest downfall was the tiny tachometer.

Sarcux, you're clearly not the only person alive that still likes the Beetle - witness the gaggles of them on every highway, road, street, alley.... (you get the idea).

But, you probably are one of the few on this board.

....it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.

Wow, that extremely close similarity to the Beetle wheel certainly is disappointing (NOT because of my feelings about the Beetle). The MINI obviously has a lot of parallels drawn with the Beetle, some justified, some not. Why blatantly rip off VW's steering wheel? Couldn't they have made it at least a LITTLE bit different?!

Too much of one thing, is a bad thing. IMO, the excess silver on the 3 spoke wheel becomes too much.

>>Am I the only person alive who still likes Beetles?

A friend of mine has a beetle. It doesn't have the best use of interior space, but I must say that there is one detail that I really like--the fact that the exterior color carries over to the top of the interior door panel. It really ties the overall design together. IMO, that is a better design detail than all these door color options...black, silver, red, magnesium...etc.

Am I the only one that's noticing the aluminum pedals???

Stock MINI Factory aluminum pedals would be nice..

Or am I missing something here? Do you U.S. motorers get aluminum pedals in your MINis? I only got an aluminum "dead pedal" in my stock MCS..

That new wheel isn't doing it for me... looks waaaaay too much like the VW Bug, plus I'm hopelessly addicted to my MFSW.

Aluminum pedals have been standard on the MCS since December.

And about the Beetle... remember that this was desgined in Europe where the Beetle has been unpopular and sales have been very slow - so they probably aren't inundated everyday with then like we are. IMHO While it looks similiar to the Beetle's wheel I think in person it'll probably become apparent it's generally a different shape - we shouldn't assume every wheel that has metal crossbars is identical.

Of course we don't have any confirmation this will ever be made or isn't just a design study.

I like the new steering wheel. The inserts look nice. I wonder if they are going to match the interior (silver, alloy patina and anthrazit) That would be so cool.

Much prefer my MC's 2 spoke MFSW , and loved the look of the new S pedals so much that I ordered a set (did the dead pedal mod over the acclerator, like Bad Ess on MIN2). Haven't seen anything after market that was nicer looking, IMHO.
