Something tells me that the extension (covering the seat backs) doesn't actually 'attach'. The only good picture I could quickly find shows that there are no cut-outs for the seatback release levers and that it isn't split, so I think it's basically for the moments when you have both of the rear seats folded down. Does anyone leave it on when the seats are in the 'up' position? How does it stay up? How do you release the seats?

I could use this accessory, but I think I would want them semi-permanently attached with the ability to split the seats (one up and one down).

Thanks!

I'm rather surprised...

A custom Whalen Shift Machine... It replaces the stock FRICTION FIT (really... who makes a friction fit shift ****!) shift **** with a hard attachment (still quick and easy to remove). It also adds mass to the top of the shifter, making everything feel smoother and making it easier to get into reverse on a new, stiff, manual transmission.

You get to choose your own design... full customization is available! I love this thing!

2. "Knee pads" place on downtubes. Check out MYMINI.com. Makes resting the knee against the center thing much more comfortable. Around $30--40 bucks.

Are the knee pads worth it if the driver has short legs? My legs are slightly shorter than most people my age.

Wow... haven't seen this thread in a while!

I'm 6'4" and the knee pad on the driver's side downtube is excellent. They make one for the driver's left knee on the door oval now, too (focused on autocrossers who are under hard G-forces), but I'm not feeling the kneed ( :D ) for it right now.

The way to know if you need the knee pad is to drive your car for a few hours. Does your knee get sore from bumping into the downtube? If so, it's well worth the $40 for the pad. Its all about where you like to position your seat and how your leg hits the downtube. If you can feel a hard bone touching hard plastic, it's eventually going to get uncomfortable and the pad will help.

A CG Lock will reduce the need for the knee to be used for bracing too.

As the glove box shelf goes, the one from GoMiniGo is the best one. It doesn't block the cold air vent in the glove box (has a hole in the supports to allow airflow), and you can fit a couple cans or water bottles under it. I have the iPod dock attached to mine as well. Works great!

Here's a not so great cell phone photo of it in my car. The iPod dock is on top at the far end. You can just make out the airflow hole in the shelf brace:

Best place to get the Bentley manual, is from Amazon. I haven't seen new ones for sale cheaper.
