Road Trip from Calgary to Houston any suggestions?

Well I’m done with work up here in Calgary, Alberta and I’m heading back home to Houston, Texas. I have been working up here for over a year and a half and it has been an awesome experience to live in Canada. My road trip will consist of the mini (Betty), the road and me! I’m packing light and making lots of stops on the way! I’m going to take about a week and half off work to do this road trip.

Official departure date/time = October 27, 2006 @ 5:00am

Calgary to Vancouver (start destination)
Vancouver to Seattle (I’m going for my last maintenance before my warranty is up at 40,000 miles and hanging out for a couple of days)
Seattle to Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City to Denver
Denver to Wichita
Wichita to Dallas (staying a couple of days to hang out with a buddy)
Dallas to Houston (final destination)

This will be the longest road trip I have taken in my mini and I’m excited about it. I wanted to meet some of the mini owners across America. So you have some time during the first week of November, I would like to meet up with ya! If you have any suggestions about any sites/cites I should visit on the way back to Houston, please tell me.

I’m looking forward to this road trip. I will be taking lots of pictures and notes of my trip.

Tony

Having grown up in Denver and driven a lot in the Western states, here's my take:

If you're feeling like a fast trip that day then take I-80 East to Laramie and then HWY 287 South to Ft. Collins where you can catch I-25S to Denver.

If you're wanting a more scenic (and by more I mean much more) from SLC head south on I-15 to just south of Provo, UT where you can catch HWY 6 and then 191 South to I-70 (191 joins I-70 just west of Green River UT). Once on I-70 you can have a nice drive into Denver.

That second option will give you a very nice more off the beaten path routing and you'll see a lot more varied terrain that way. If I were doing SLC to Denver I would take the second route outlined above, especially since there aren't nearly the scenic opportunities the following leg from Denver to Wichita.
