My wife and I were out doing a MINI drive out in the country in Southwest Missouri when I blast past a gravel road near Marionville, MO (home of the white squirrel) and I see a auto hauler about 1/2 mile from the paved road and I think I see a pure silver MC. I slow down from about 70 and turn around in a farmers drive and return to the gravel road. I gingerly drive down the gravel road in my BRG/White MCS. As I get closer it still looks like a MC on the top of the hauler. Yes there was 8 or 9 MC models. Pure Silver/Black on top facing the main road. One Liquid Yellow/white, One BRG/white, one Indi Blue/white, black on black a couple of more silver models. Obviously, the truck driver lives in Marionville and is transporting this load of MINI Coopers from Road Show in Memphis to Long Beach. There was documentation showing that they were sold from Road Show to Long Beach MINI. There was also, a 7 series BMW that was not new on the trailer. Apparantly, Road Show was overstocked on MC and were sending them to where they are needed on the west coast. I was amazed to find this trailer loaded with MINI Coopers. We had just visited my mother-in-law and she nor her boyfriend had ever seen a Mini or a MINI. Then just 10 miles away there is a truckload.

I was just at Long Beach Mini and was informed that they buying Minis from the East Coast. All you have to do is pay the shipping. I saw 700 dollars shipping on top of the destination charge, on a MC. Long Beach Mini has a 1 year wait to order a MCS. Where Escondido Mini has more than several MCSs on the lot for purchase and 3month wait time to receive your Mini. Only difference????? No mark up! or 15% mark up!!!!!!!! At the dealership in Escondido I saw a MCS with a $3500 mark up. Ouch.

I don't normally feel blessed living 200 miles from a dealer, but we are obviously are in a land of surplus for MC here in the midwest.

Well somebody will soon be getting some beautiful MINI Coopers in Long Beach!
