R50/53 Driver side power lock
Driver side power lock
OK here is a strange senario.....
My driver side power lock won't open with the button on the key, i have to open the door by putting the key in the lock (you know, the old fashioned way....lol), neither will it open using the switch on the dash.
It will not lock with the switch on the dash neither will it auto lock at 10mph. However it WILL LOCK with the key button.
Any ideas??

I had a similar issue with my 03 MINI CVT... door lock actuator motors/mechanisms were replaced under warranty by the dealer.
PS- First the driver's side went out, then a year later the passenger's side went out...guess they had a run of faulty door lock mechanisms at the factory!

I'm at 60k so no warranty. But i don't see how it could be dieing if it locks with the key remotely, coz it wouldn't work period i would think.
It locks with key button, but won't auto lock or dash switch lock.
Won't open any way but inserting key into lock.
I would think that i wouldn't have any working features if it was dead?
It's been like this fr a few months now.

Muppet,
I have the same problem and believe boognish is right about the actuator being at fault. This is apparently a common problem, but one that could be lived with if necessary (window motor broken in July heatwave...NOT to be lived with!)
