Has anyone actually done a MFSW/Cruise retrofit?

I've seen a few references in the forum to folks inquiring as to retrofitting cruise control via a MFSW.

The dealer estimate seems to be about $1500...others say $800.

I see there is PDF DIY file on Motoring File...has anyone actually done this install?

How hard was it and what did it cost?

I'm considering buying an '03 without cruise, and my decision hinges on the cruise control installation.

Thanks...

I have not heard of it actually being done, but I enquired with the local dealer - the parts are available to order and install. (by them)
The only hitch is the cost - I was quoted approx. $1,500CAN, so I don't think I need cruise that badly, although the other controls for audio would get used.
But I suppose if one really wanted the retrofit, maybe that price to pay isn't so bad. (especially on the 2-spoke wheel which has the more ergonomic controls)
