If the word motoring offends you, here is a list of other words to use:

cruising
rolling
riding
driving
touring
commuting
motoring
traveling
carting

And to further drive my point, the term Motoring is used in the UK long before it was a MINI phenomenom. Its an international term that bridges accross cultures and traditions.

I also use boot and bonnet. Living in Europe, you unlearn words like truck, lid, and hood.

Besides, its just a word. Not a marketing scheme, and no the word Motoring is not over done. Is cruising over done? Is driving over done?

Back on Topic... Its about shoes or shall we say sneakers, or something like feet protective devices.

Way to go, Patagonian GT,

I too sport the Merrel Chameleon Ventilators. I LOVE THEM. I have 2 pairs of them. They're comfortable as hell, and easy to just slip on, slip off. They're pretty good for motoring too, although most "motorers" would say they're too wide. But for my modified version of heel-toe shifting, their width works to my advantage.

From experience: If you're really serious, buy a pair of wrestling shoes... you'll feel like a dancer on the pedals. Also great for drummers, BTW. LIGHTWEIGHT, GRIP and FEEL.
:-)
Next best thing: Sperry Topsiders. The end.

Gee... how many MINI drivers are drummers? Sounds like a new thread...

Aside from the stilleto pumps I wear to work, I like my ProKeds Skurvy sneaks on the weekend...

Boy, MINI drivers sure are interested in feet! I use my old indoor soccer shoes . . . last time I bought new indoor soccer shoes I bought two pair so that now I have a new old pair of indoor soccer shoes for driving. Remember, if you can't fool yourself, who are you gonna fool?

Funny how I have never seen a MINI Advertisement of any kind.

I think I will take a HIGH European road on this one...

Poleti G16 for me

I got 2 pair of Poleti' G16 for my B'day and a pair of Timberland loafers. The Timberlands are kind of neat since they are regular shoes with rubber soles and rounded heells...The Poleti G16's are something else...! Only have 2 feet though

Adidas Samba Millenium's for me. These were almost in the trash, but the Mini saved 'em.

i think i posted already, but im sporting Piloti's.

considering you can get G16's for $80, why not? i also have the Monaco's
but i like the G16's better as they are softer and more flexible allowing the
foot to do the work, not the shoes.

I never really thought about what shoes before, I am a big fan of driving barefoot in the summertime. I went to my sisters wedding last year down in VA. I stopped by the hotel to check in & get changed and found that my new black dress shoes were too wide to drive with, kept getting caught up in the peddles & nearly crashed the car before I took them off.

Converse Chuck Taylors (Low) or Vans (Classic Lace-up) for everyday motoring and recently got a pair of the Adidas Adi-Racers to try out.

I've been wanting to try out my climbing shoes for driving. They really look like they'd be great.

Cool idea, but aren't the soles too stiff and narrow to be comfortable? Or maybe I'm still stuck in the old school, having started climbing 25 years+ ago with EBs... if they didn't hurt, they wouldn't work.

I wear a Van's skateboard shoe. Very comfortable, they breath well and easy to "feel" the car and response thru it. Been wearing the Van's for a long long time now (hehehe old pool rider and one of the first at Carlsbad Skatepark when it opened in the 70s). Don't think they can be beat for the money, especially for someone who isn't a race/track driver, just my .02$

Converse Copies MINI (Configure your motoring shoes)

Looks like the shoe guys are catching up to MINI when it comes to "configuring".

Pretty cool.
