someone bumped me...they had to as I had 2 little indents in my rear bumper cover about 1/4" wide and 1/8" deep... luckily I was able to fill it with some astro black touchup... due to the color darkness and the usual dirt, can't even really notice it now...

Have I mentioned that y'all rock?

Mgc, I'm a little worried about my right to park-by-Feel: I don't think I'm within 20 miles! But I KNOW I'm within 60 miles... can we revamp the parameters, perhaps, to include me?

Still no phone call -- assuming that they're either driving around tring desperately to run into something, or that they just kind of laughed, saw that there was no damage, and moved on with their lives.

At least five tries, in and out. I was watching the people behind me in the rear view mirror. They were all . What could I do? Just and make a hasty exit. Sheesh.
You were just nervous ...it happens to all of us sooner or later, no matter how good a driver you happen to be. It always seems to happen in front of a group of laughing hyenas though, doesn't it?

I had always thought I wanted a convertible at some point in my life... test drove that cabrio and said NEVER. Visibiity is horrid. Safety was too high on my list to have the wind blow through my hair.
I have a cabrio. Here is the ultimate solution:

The OEM rear view camera. I can parallel park my MINI cabrio into tight spaces with greater ease and precision than any car I have ever owned. General rear visibility is also fine by using a Multivex mirror. I think I could learn to adjust without these two enhancements, but they make the cabrio even more enjoyable, and safer.

Don't forget that you can turn your sideview mirror down to see where the curb is! When parallel parking, I've learned that way too many folks part right on the curb, so I am careful about using them as parking gauges.

LOL! Maybe MINI curb-feelers are in order...like grandmas and grandpas used to put on their gigantic Cadillacs!

You're so sweet, thank you. I'll keep practicing just because you believe! I still suck at parallel parking! I'll be doing the Woo Hoo dance everytime I get it right for a long time coming...

That rear-view camera is cool! Now I wish I had the NAV system.

When I was spec'ing my convertible, I wasn't planning to get Nav because it is expensive and I don't need it for my usual driving. Then I saw the rear-view camera reviewed on MotoringFile, and I knew I wanted it for the car. So I ended up ordering the $1700 Nav in addition to spending $700 for the camera. It has been worth every penny and I'd do it again with no hesitation. If you don't want to spend that much, an aftermarket rear camera system including display can be installed for less, although it wouldn't be as well integrated with the car.

The camera would be a God send for me, I have trouble twisting my neck due to a injury years ago. Your camera pic. was totally neat!!

Too bad there wasn't some sort of stand up foam wall to put in front of the car or cars in front and back of you when parking- especially if it IS tight.

You know- thin foam but it's got to stand up and fold back into your car.

I know it's not practical to whip out the foam pads and park or unpark and whip them back in your boot when you clear out of the space.

Why not be James Bond like and make those foam pads POP out of your front and rear bumpers (with air assist), then after parking then deflat and pop back into your bumpers - sort of like those washers I have for my Xenon lights (I haven't ever seen them).

I dig the camera -- and having test-driven a cabrio, can see how it would be useful. Neat little gadget!
